Fatal Attractions
Anyone happen to catch the episode where they found the guy mostly eatin alive by all of his monitors? How possible is that whole scenario of him getting bit and the saliva making him pass out and then all of his monitors ate him? Is this T.V. just being T.V. or can/did this really happen like they say?
-
Re: Fatal Attractions
I thought he died for other reasons and they just ate him because they were hungry. IDK its a weird story though.
-
He got salmonella poisoning from a bite from one of his monitors and never went to get treated for it and died. The monitors, then unfed began eating him. It would be possible, especially with the numerous bites he has received on a daily basis, but most people would seek help when feeling that sick.
-
Re: Fatal Attractions
i've seen that episode...twice. he died of an untreated infection and just like bsash said, the animals ate him cuz they were hungry. really sad, IMHO.

Watching these useless shows only gives the show better ratings, so the best thing to do is to ignore the shows. Showing interest in these shows will only cause more and more shows like this to pop up.

Yea like most of not ALL Reality shows on Fox, MTV and so on are garbage but ppl watch it due to it catches their eye in one way or another. Millions watch these shows, you saying for a small community to stop will do nothing to the show.

Well us keeping our herps and enjoying the hobby is something that this community believes very strongly in, so why support something that just puts the hobby down? That statement is just like saying, im only one person what can I do? Every little bit can count. Maybe if we boycott those shows, yet watch educational ones on the same channel, they might realize that the station can make more money from the more realistic shows, instead of bashing the community.

Re: Fatal Attractions
OMG What an idiot. Did he have rattle snakes and black widows too? Why would anyone keep something that could easily eat a child, as a pet? I'll Stick with my domestics! Oh and of course my handsome Mayhem!
-
I've seen that episode quite a few times, he obviously had no other problems with those monitors. It is very dangerous though having so many roaming free, but I love them to death!
I hate it how they made it sound like they killed them, so irritating.

haha exactly! seriously if u watch that episode (im no monitor expert but i know a few things) this dude and the show are both *insert true feelings here*.. the description of the show said he had 7 nile monitors.. lol 2 might have been niles and where juvies.. the rest where btm and savanahs.. he never caged em and fed em on carpeted rooms (umm gross/disease ridden much) and darn near froze the things at 80 degrees.. and for knowing so much about monitors (which the show said he did) how did he allow him self to get into these habbits? the whole show should be taken off the air! iv watched a few and wanna punch myself in the face.. lol from the lady who had 20+ hots for her first reptiles to the guy with the 13ft burm who was starving and being handled drunk.
i in noway mean to disrepect the dead, i mearly comment on there practices when alive which where not acceptable, the only thing that show has that is good are the true experts and people who know what there doing with real life experience and not payed actors cramming mainstream media down the uneducated throats

Re: Fatal Attractions
LOL this is funny to me. getting bitten amoung other things led to the infection he let them free roam his apartment, mulitple Large liz and monitors pooping and just living in your one bedroom apartment is silly especially if you arent a freaking neat freak. guys an idiot enough said. and I love that show it doesnt depict reptile keepers as crazy, just crazy animal hoarders or thrill seekers as crazy LOL think about it. wolf lady-CRAZY, Liz guy- CRAZY, HOT OWNERS Ing general-CRAZY in there own right, BIG CAT PEOPLE- CRAZY. everyone can whine about tv but its about social norms, keeping dangerous animals is not normal bottom line.

The show should be renamed "Darwin Candidates" :D

Who are you, or anyone, to judge what people keep as pets? This is the problem the industry has. People thinking its okay to judge what other people keep as pets.
If your going to judge many people in the hobby for keeping venomous or any animal that could potentially harm them, then leave your remarks somewhere else.
Your domestics pose just as much of a danger to you as exotics. So please get off your high horse please and stop judging the keepers.

How is it a joke. Why can you judge anyone us by what pets we keep? By judging people who keep exotics your judging yourself.
No one has the right to tell anyone what pets they keep. It is their perogative if they want to keep potentiall deadly species. IF they die then thats their fault, you dont have the right to stop them from doing that.

are u kidding listen to your self. ITS CALLED THE GOVERNMENT LMAO. come on man. dont rage and respond with emotion. the person probably was implying these people on fatal attraction are pushing the limits and boundaries that have been implemented to protect them. I mean states such as texas allow people to own all kinds of crazy animals LARGE CATS and such Im not to versed in the legislation but i do know they can own monkeys and tigers and stuff. these are exotic and dangerous. And who are you to tell anyone what they can own? well maybe their a person concerned about there wellbeing when some wild animal is threatening there lives.
THEREFORE I said your post was a joke, a little emotional and not well thought out. Im not trying to cause conflict it just seemed as if you were bullying a poster for there opinion, and attempting to force them to believe in yours with negative remarks. Remember this thread is in response to a tv show where people die from there poor care and extreme interests in there EXOTIC animals. PEACE :)

lmao.. cmon now coast get off your highhorse.. your goverment thats imposing these restrictions are based on lies and false truths which is exactly whats wrong with this country today.. take the burm invasion 100s of thousands? umm no... how many hunters liscences where issued and how many people got kills? exactly.. theres no invasion and the burm cannot survive ANYWHERE in the united states except the southern tip of florda yet theres a possible there moving into washington and survive on saltwater? umm no the goverment has NO right to tell me what i as an animal keeper can and cannot keep.. the states have more of a right to ban species then the federal goverment read up on your constituion and bill of rights...
this thread has a ton of oppinions that are wrong... how many hot keepers are there that have never been bite? A TON!!! because there is no reason to be bite.. ill say that again there is NO reason to be bite by a hot.. if the proper precautions are taken a good keeper will never be bite but will have 3 plans inplace of a bite.
and as for those who look down on a fellow herper.. you discust me and shouldent be in this hobby.. everyone has to start somewere and this hobby seems to think people need to explain themselves which is rediculous.. let the responsable be and help educate the uneducated.. its just that simple

my high horse LOL come on SON! im not versed in the constitution or bill of rights. but I do know that it does not make any sense to own venomous animals in my opinnion which is exactly that an opinion. also I think that owning POTENTIALLY dangerous animals is more of a pissing contest than anything. more of a childish look at my cool toy lol get over your self people now adays are allways trying to push the limits of society, we have to realize that the things we do such as owning a tiger or a venomous animal could potential affect other peoples lives than our own. As a tax payer Im glad that I live in Ca and that crazy people who could potentially be neighbors cant own large cats or monkeys or even venomous animals. thats all im saying. my point in above posts was that the government/ and state have the right to tell u waht u can and cant own obviously! thats just common knowledge, this is hilarious. I believe the quote was " who are you to tell me what I can and cant own, no one has that right" some thing along those lines. WELL NEWS FLASH CHIEF STATE AND FED LAW. LOL :colbert:
also we "discust" you im sorry. this THREAD IS ABOUT FATAL ATTRACTIONS and how the people on that show are dead cause they are ignorant and cant correctly take care of there animals or have animals they are not capable of keeping. thats why we joked about the darwan awards. do u have a relative on the show, i dont get your absolute "disgust" regarding our convo?

It's people like you that really bother me. The government makes more and more law to "protect" us when they should be focusing on the state deficit's that each state is facing. I believe CA has one of the worst deficits? Correct? Good thing your glad your taxes are going "protecting" you. Most of us are concerned about the fiscal aspect and the unemployment rate in the country.
The government doesn't need to tell us what pets to own. If my tiger gets out, killing someone, I should be persecuted to the full extent of the law, meaning i should either recieve the death penalty or life in jail. It was my fault someone was hurt, not anyone elses. Why should others be punished for the irresponsible? The only reason there is so much of an attack on our hobby is because its one of the few things that the government doesnt have its nose in. Maybe they should be focusing on the hundreds of other things. Maybe how our country has dropped so low in the sciences and mathematics, and how we can barely keep up with education anymore. Maybe they should focus on themselves, the uselessness of the government.
The government shouldn't have the right to tell us what pets we can own. Do you know how many dog related injuries there are? I work at a vet's office and its a normal thing to have a rabies quarantine in the office once a week because the owners didnt remember to get the vacination and their dog bit someone.
The government is getting its nose into business it should never be concerned about. I believe the quote is, "The government that governs least is best". The American government has controlled more and more, yet becomes more useless.
Owning our exotics is our right. If someone's pet kills someone, they should be persecuted as if they had done it themselves. Maybe then the truly irresponsible people will realize it's not worth the risk, and the ones that love the hobby and can control the animal will make up the mass majority of the keepers.

^ you feel better now. moral of the storie people on fatal attractions are dumb thats why they are on T.V. . . . . for being idiots and DIEING. LoL no I dont know the dog related injuries statistic, but I do believe that CA and its MAJOR debt has nothing to do with exotic animal laws. anyways good chat :colbert: maybe youll be on tv one day. and I WILL BE WATCHING:O

Im not ranting to make myself feel better. The fact that CA has such a major debt does play into it. Why is the government focus on banning pythons and other exotics when the country owes trillions?
I may be on TV one day, but that will be because of my intelligence. I am a Biology major in college and just finished the semester in the top 5% of my class. I plan to continue to after my masters to get a doctorates degree in Herpetology.

CONGRATS, once again do you feel better? bro the exotics ban is mainly in place cause of the irresponsible exotic owners who felt intitled enough to release there animals into the wild. I understand steps have been made to counter the impact these invasive species are making but no matter how many we kill they will still thrive in places such as the everglades. I dont think it will be a contenental take over by any means. I just understand why rules made, If anything I believe that our tax money should go to cleaning up our nation wide problem involving illegals and cleaning the streets of drugs and illegal fire arms. This can go on all day, but if your intellect needs to be admired well you have accomplished that :O, very impressed I to am a college student and plan on being on TV. Not because Im top 5% of my class, other dreams I have that dont need to be BLOWN UP AND posted on some bp forum to increase my so called credibility LOL. :salute: . I love my country and feel that its ignorant to think that flooding the market of regulation free exotic animals will in some how benefit our nations debt  . U did not directly state this but u did bring up your interest in national and state wide financial issues also mentioned your EXPERIENCE at animal hospitals. :please: your basically mother terressa. bro your argument backing exotic animals is similar to micheal jacksons neverland ranch, Its just never going to work social norms do not support childhood fetishes regarding How many animals you can keep or crazy dream of keeping the king of the jungle, human nature is crazy thing and people continue to amaze me with there outlandish desires and behaviors. some one of your 5% intelligence should understand that rules need to inplace to protect the good of the people therefore if you want an animal get the permit and shut up rules need to be followed HAHA:taz:
Again I have several exotic animals and love the industry and science behind these beautiful creatures but I will not stand for ignorance. nor entertain the idea of some kid bashing someones opinion.

Didn't I see somewhere they where trying to tax dirt and say that fresh air is cancerous? Lol...
As soon as I saw he was from commiefornia I stopped giving any of his arguments merit because your right your entilteld to your oppinion as the people are entitled to there right to own exotics if they see fit.. the fed gov takes a ton of liberties and "protects" us because of people like you lost who arnt versed in the bill of rights and constitution.. but since this thread is about the show ill stop argueing with u about politics because its more then obvious its an unfair fight :salute:

I will just say.....domestics kill a lot more ppl each year than exotics do!!!!!!!

OK well thanks for joining in on this. what your saying is true most likely, if this is where our conversations were headed ( even though its not ) I would love to see statistics showing overall number of cats and dogs in the US compared to the number of exotics in the US well the exotics that the government actually knows about. anyways this whole thing got blown out of proportion, Im sorry that Im the only one that feels that laws controlling the kind of animals you may own and number of animals you may own in each state is "responsible" I realize there is exceptions to the rule and that there will allways be a individual case someone can bring up to prove me wrong. But this just comes down to human nature, there will allways be a person that blows things out of proportion and threatens the lives of society. therefore rules are implemented and ATTEMPTED to be inforced. BPelizebeth I loved your threads with the IGGY i wish i still had my big boy, your house guest brought me back to my childhood anyways happy holidays :salute:

awww thanks Lost. Its a hard call on what your talking about and I can see both sides. There are always idiots out there that make it bad for all of us!
Thanks for reading the gizmo threads....I will keep it going as long as he gives me stories! He is on a bit of a hiatus right now.....shedding...poor guy!

LOL iggys are a riot. the just march around and do funny stuff. they are LIL devils when there young what an evil tail they have HAHA

I tell ya I have a lil one right now probably a year old and he is just a meaner. I am hoping with lots of work he will turn into a gizmo.

Re: Fatal Attractions
This post is funny.
First off your "rights" are actually privledges. YOU are your government's property. Your government chooses what it feels you are allowed to do with your life. You are basically the pet of your government. Not many laws actually make sense. They are based upon a select population imposing their ideas on others.
Second, I don't care if it is exotic animals, guns, motorcycles etc...
as long as ignorance and stereotypes exist, people will manipulate facts to increase the image and hate.
