    Stripe morph?
I'm looking at this snake I might be interested in buying, the guy is selling it as a "stripe ball python" which I've never heard of, couldn't find anything on google either. Can anyone help me out, is this snake really a morph or just a unique looking normal? The price for the snake is $320

to my knowledge, its a normal with a full stripe, not a morph, cool looking but I don't think its worth the 300 dollars for it. all of my snakes from bhb have broken stripes, im sure some selective breeding could pop a full stripe out.

ok and someone give me a english lesson is striper refering to a stripe and stripper the dancer or vise versa? or is striper not even a word?

Striper would refer to a person who stripes, as in a person who makes stripes. Stripper would be like the dancer, yes.

Very unique normal. I would buy it, but not for that much. I think it would be worth more than a regular priced normal for sure though.

Thanks, guys. So what would you say she's worth? It's a female, 450 grams. I really like her but I'm probs not gonna get her unless he's willing to change the price. Then I'll just get a mojave or lesser instead.. or an albino pied paradox.. in my dreams :P

Hmm, I don't think it's a morph either. My guess is that it's a normal with a really sweet stripe and the guy just wants to make a buck off it. I wouldn't pay over $100 for a cool looking norm. You're taking a chance on something that has a good chance of not being genetic. $150 tops if you absolutely have to have her.

i'd tell that guy to stick it and not deal with them again. 320 for a 450g normal. HAH!! for that price you could get a nice female from a reputable breeder that is actually a morph, and not a normal someone is trying to sell for a high price. if u really do want it then offer him 75 bucks for it.

thanks guys! anyway I'm trying to see if I can get her for $200, i know that's probs still a tad over priced if she's just a normal like you say, but i really like the way she looks and well, I'm into breeding anyway :)

well knowing a normal 450 female would be 50 bucks tops....i wouldn't pay more than 100 for her. i mean for 200 couldn't you get a het g-stripe? or what do they go for?

Hmm, for me, even at $200 its still a no-go. It looks like a very nice normal to me w/ a full stripe. These are often reffered to as harlequin but they arent confirmed yet to be genetic or inheritable. If you have that budget, I suggest you seek out a morph that you like from a reputable breeder. As for stripes, I only know 2 that exist, the genetic stripe and the superstripe (plus the other genes that throws stripes sometimes like the mojos, lesser, etc.)

Maybe you can start a project called the 'striper' by getting this female first and look for another male with similar look along the road. If you really like it, you would pay whatever you could afford to get it, no?

I agree with everyone else, that is just a normal. It is unusual to see one with a full stripe, I'll grant you that, but not even close to $300 unusual.

For a 450 gram female normal like her, I'd go no higher than $100. I have four magnificent normal females, all breeding size, that I acquired for under $100 each.

It is very rare that something like her looks are genetic, and you could spend years attempting to replicate her stripe in her offspring, it just isn't worth it to spend more on her.

Now, it is possible the owner has never seen a snake like her and honestly believes she is a morph, so I give him the benefit of the doubt. I would politely but firmly say she is just a very nice normal and not a morph, and offer him $100. If he refuses or gets nasty, then you know he's lying on purpose.

If you decided to continue selectively breeding you could make it a morph. Think Lemon Pastel. You could basically create your own strain of normals that have full stripes, which would be awesome. Crossing that full back stripe with the side blushing into other morphs would be killer.

    Re: Stripe morph?
A "normal" is not a "normal" until bred and proven to be one.:colbert:

BG agrees that this snake is most likely not genetic, but we all don't know. If that snake turned out to be genetic, it would be a great deal for 300 bucks. It's a gamble. Looking at The Snake Keepers tri stripe, BG would have bet his lime green undies it was not genetic. Just think how lucky the person who bet BG would have been.:D

Offer him 100, then 150. Explain that you doubt it's genetic and that it isn't $300 worth of uncommon. See if you can barter him down. ^^ it's worth trying and if you aren't mean about it, maybe you can talk him down!
