Your first and worst bite
I watched an episode of SnakeBytes TV today, and of course one of them got tagged during the show. Made me think of how I haven't been bitten in almost 4 years by any of my snakes. As luck would have it, I of course got tagged tonight.
Anyways I was wondering what your guy's first bite was like and how your worst bite ended up?
Pic's would be amazing.

My first bite was from one of my male honduran milksnakes on sunday. Didn't really hurt, just surpised me because the one that bit me wasnt supposed to be the aggressive one. I didn't really bleed either.
-
first bite was from gizmo my beardie but was a mistake haha i was feeding him from my hand and he got my finger instead of the strawberry! haha only thing that bit me! *knocks on wood* lol it didn't hurt much but i was afraid i hurt him xD
-
I'm just waiting for the day my bp strikes me. He is the most docile snake ever. I can grab his head and he won't do anything. And when I was trying to get him to strike his rat by trying to aggravate him he just hid away in his log. Silly thing. I actually want him to bite me. Im curious
-
Hera has yet to bite me and is so docile it sometimes amazes me.
-
I've got a mean little corn snake, he bites me every time i take him out. He's only a baby though so it doesn't hurt, though he did draw a little blood last week
-
First bite was from a tiny month old corn snake, and hardly enough to even be considered a bite.
My worst bite was from my '10 blood python, the day I brought her home. She's not big, but her teeth did some pretty mean cutting and may have nicked something. I didn't stop bleeding for a surprisingly long time.. 10 minutes or so? She's gotten me since that first bite and it hasn't been as bad.

Re: Your first and worst bite
My first bite was by my cousins baby burm when I was a kid. My snakes have yet to bite me.
-
Re: Your first and worst bite
i have yet to be bitten but i'm sure it's coming. my girl has definitely given it some thought as i've caught her giving my hand some major "stink-eye" lol.
also, my reflexes are really slow so...it'll happen i'm sure.

Re: Your first and worst bite
I've had Fang for a few months now, and I just don't see him ever biting me. He slams his F/T mice as soon as I put them in front of him, but when I reach into his cage and pick him up he's totally mellow.
He did open his mouth and rear up once, but that was because I was reaching into the cage right after giving him some food. I think he was just being protective of his meal.
-
I was bit the first night I brought home my first BP! Stuck my hand in to check the temperature and did not know enough to see that she was going to strike. She was so tiny and the bite mark was so weak that I all could was laugh! :P Oh, and learn to keep my hands out when she is cranky!
-
Haven't own a snake yet (just sent my money to Frankie so I'll have one soon) but when i was 16 my Bearded Dragon Geezer bit me pretty bad he ever showed aggression before and even when he did bite me he didn't hiss or even show his beard but lets just say it hurts more than you would think >.>
-
I have yet to be bitten....might change once I add new BPs to my collection in a month or so.
I know the first time will deff scare the crap outta me!! lol:D

Re: Your first and worst bite
first bite would have to be from a garter snake at the age of 5 or 6.
scariest goes hands down to a near miss with an atheris chlorecis that missed my knee by about 1 1/2". those tree vipers have an impresive strike range to say the least.
worst has to go to the 10' burm that took my whole hand up to my wrist and held on for 10 or 15 minutes.

ditto for me.
My first captive bite was from my boyfriends RTB. He was a cranky little guy and tagged me once. Scared me more than it hurt that's for sure!

Re: Your first and worst bite
I have been bitten by a few bp's and they really don't hurt very much. It is more of shock than anything. The most painful bite was from a retic that I use to have. He was around 6' and caught me in the web of my hand while I was holding him. He would not let go and kept trying to twist his head. He held on for about 5 minutes, which felt like an hour. Needless to say I did not keep him to long after that. lol

My first bite was from my Col. red tail boa... that was a MEAN snake!!
Not to long ago a few freinds at work were asking if I've ever been bit, I told them not in 4 years and not from any of the snakes I have now. Not to long before that I got a new girl that had been traded 2-3 times in a short period of time. I fed her a few times and she was still a little freaky... The same day the work people asked it was also feeding day and I got nailed by a 850 gram pastel girl.... 2 days after that I had a baby spider bite my fingure, 4 days after that I had the same spider hang by his teeth from my figure.. he wouldn't let go...
Havn't been bit since... knock on wood....

I went two years without getting tagged! Then less than a month later I got tagged for a second time while telling someone that ball pythons rarely bite  That was my first bite. I got it while filling up the water dish before he struck the live rat I had just put in the tub. Good one... I know! The second one was from my spider and you couldn't see it once I washed the blood off. He has sort of lost it. He tries to bite me all the time. When he bit me I was holding him trying to put him in a bag

Re: Your first and worst bite
First bite came from one of my gopher snakes when I was about 7 years old or so. I owned a few gopher snakes, rosy boas, and kingsnakes that I caught in the wild as a kid, and they would all bite me. haha. Especially when i would play the game of holding the mice by the tail when I fed them. I definitely got tagged a dozen times or so. Worst has to be my Female blood python got me getting her water bowl. I thought I was out of strike range, but she closed in on me fast, and so violently grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go. She was a pain to get off, but just getting her out of her cage, and she weighs 15 lbs, she was hanging on as I luckily had a bottle of 1/2 listerine spray I use to clean and that sprayed on her and she let go. Good times... She's also for sale to a good home btw :). bawaha

My baby jungle carpet python trys to bite me all the but hasn't got me. I also have a ball python that after feeding will strike at anything that moves, near its cage. But my only bites came from ring snakes, smooth green snakes, and garter snakes, when I was a kid,I would catch them and get bit all the time. Bit I have to say a garter snake musking is worse then its bite.

My worst bite, was from my Savannah Monitor today
It happened about 4 hours ago. I was holding a live mosue up for him, trying to make him jump for it
And he jumped alright, and he clamped down on my finger and wouldnt let go
So here I have this 5 - 10 pound lizard hanging off my finger, biting as hard as he could. Man was it painful!
Thankfully He released me after about a minute
No wounds, its just throbbing and hurts A LOT.
we'll see if it turns into a bruise or not.
Lol gotta say, thats my first feeding error and it wont be happening again very soon :l
-
My first bite ever was actually from my boyfriends dog that out of the blue attacked my face when I was 17. The worst bite ever was again from my dog that I scared when I woke her up and she bit me in the lip.
I know that is not what you are looking for but hey....(slightly making a point...lol)
As far as snakes I was tagged the other day by an Amazon Tree Boa....Juv. didn't hurt but wow it was shocking how fast he was....

Re: Your First and Worst Bite
I've been lucky thus far. However my luck almost ran out two weeks ago at a local pet store. I live in a very small Northern Michigan town and the owner of the store often gets unwanted animals dropped off there. She's had an 8 foot red tailed boa there for a few months now and I've started working with the snake to keep her socialized as everyone else there is scared of her. I got over confident with her the last time I took her out and she taught me a lesson. Lets just say that if I didn't have ninja like reflexes I'd be sporting a pretty darn nasty bite on my face.

I was married once.....does that count?:P

Re: Your first and worst bite
Besides the baby corns mine was a 5foot plus tree boa trying to get pics. I'll look to see where I put them.

I was in that episode of Snakebytes. When Chewy Yelled Rich, he had me go get that king rat and i got tagged pulling it out of the empty rack slot.
King Rats so far are the worst bite ive encountered.

Re: Your first and worst bite
My recent bite was from a female blood python. She is about a foot and a half.
A friend of mine was holding her. He asked "does she bite," I reply that she was a little nippy because she was a juvenile. Next I was pointing out her colors, and as I was pointed out the pepper coloring on her head she got the whole first joint of my index finger in her mouth. It didn't hurt, and like most of you already said it was just more of a shock lol.

Re: Your first and worst bite
I don't remember my first bite. I'm sure it was from a Garter snake though since I used to catch buckets of them as a kid and play with them all day before releasing them. Poor snakes :-(
When I was about 16 I got a 4' BP and a 6 - 7' Red Tail Boa from a friend of a friend. One day I was walking with the boa to go put her away. I could see her moving her head by mine and flicking her tongue around. I figured she was just checking things out, then BAM she bit me right on the eye. She held on for what seemed like quite a while, but I think she was just stuck. She didn't wrap around me or anything just hung there off of my face kind of squirming. It was pretty shocking, but I think my mom freaked out worse than I did. I wish I had taken pictures of my face afterwards.
I don't blame her for biting me. She obviously wasn't cared for or handled much (if at all) before I got her. She was very skittish, thin, and didn't seem to have as much muscle as she should have. I should have given her more time to settle in and worried about her health before trying to get her used to be handled.
There I go rambling again.

Re: Your first and worst bite
The first bite I can remember was more of a scratch and peck. When I was a kid I decided to check out this cute baby Bluejay on the ground by a tree. Unfortunately, the mother was not so understanding and let me have it good...
-
I don't remember my first bite, and I couldn't even tell you what kind of snake it was, but I remember my worst well.
I was doing a program for 80+ people with a 7', 28lb Dumerils boa (if you own a Dum and say "they don't get that big"...yes they do. At least 15 year old females do!). Normally with larger snakes, I hook their tail under one arm, the body goes across my shoulders and down the other arm so that I can grip their body away from the head a ways. Boas that are that big are somewhat strong, and towards the end of the program she moved her head up behind mine and "bumped" the back of my head. I knew what was coming next, but I don't think anybody else did.
She real slowly latched onto the back of my head with her lower jaw just behind my right ear, and her upper jaw on the upper part of my head about a palm-width away. It didn't hurt much, but everybody saw it happen so I reached back and took one jaw's worth of teeth out and she took the other out. She calmed right down and never squeezed, but as head wounds bleed a lot, this was a messy one...lol. The fact that she broke a tooth off in there didn't help either.
The odd thing was that NOBODY moved. I explained that it was my own stupid fault...I got rats out to thaw earlier that day and (after the fact) distinctly remember scratching the back of my head. I learned my lesson that day about hand washing!
After I got her put away and I got cleaned up, a family that was there hung back to see if I was OK. It was more embarrassing than anything because every program I do I try to get the point across that snakes aren't as bad as everybody thinks they are...of course that all went right out the window that afternoon. I did appreciate the one comment from the mom in that family though. She told me that she hated snakes, but because I stayed calm through the whole thing, it kept her from freaking out.

Re: Your first and worst bite
First snake bite came the first day I had my little guy. I was taking my male BP tango out of his shipping bag and placing him into his enclosure when he struck me... felt like just a pin prick, byut scared me all the same.
Worst (recent) bite was from my Florida Soft Shell turtle. I was moving him into his new 125g tank and he reached around and got a hold of my finger. It was a pretty nice bleeder.

Re: Your first and worst bite
Mine was also on the first day getting a 9yo Rosy boa from one of my regulars. I brought her home and picked up the mouse from it's container to feed her. I put the mouse back in it's box because I had forgot to remove the Rosy's water bowl. Like an idiot, I put the mouse scented hand back in the tank and she bit me good. She was stuck on there for a good ten minutes.

Re: Your first and worst bite
Hmmm..... I was like 8 or 9 when I got bit my my friends Dad's Burmese. Got me in the forearm.
When I go to Reptile Shows I usually get bit while I'm holding snakes and checking them out and talking to the Vendor. I just keep on talking while I am easing the snake off me. Its really no big deal. I lost the whole "Freak Out" thing a loooong time ago.
If you want to know the worst pain I have ever been in..... A dislocated shoulder that went back in the wrong way and had to be re-dislocated and reversed. I would rather take a bite from a 20+ Anaconda then go thru that again!!!!
-
Jericho, my burmese, bit me two days ago, because while cleaning his cage, I accidentally bopped him on the head pulling him out. I think it was more of a, "Hey, let's not do that again" bite... It hurt, yes, initially... but soon went away after 3-5 minutes... It's comparable to a crab pinch... At first it scares the crap out of ya, and hurts... but then soon after, you don't feel it any more unless you touch it.

Re: Your first and worst bite
My worst was by a 5' male ghost boa he got me on my left ear:rage:
