Poss RI? Help

Ok so my albino green burm I just got, makes a slight wheeze whistle noise occasionally maybe every minute if he breathes really heavy but u have to listen very quietly to hear it, he doesn't have any other sign o respiratory infection, and I took him to a vet but they don't do a lot of herps, but they said it might just be normal, prehistoric pets also said it's normal for some burms, anyone care to explain? I haven't tried to feed him yet but he seems strong and he does hiss a little when I first take him out but not after he's out that's what the noise sounds like a little bitty hiss/ heavy exhale, but he seems fine is this normal?

How big is your burmese ? whats your temps and humidity. I have a male reticulated python aprox 10ft i thought the same thing i took him in and said he was healthy. Ive read up on it and read some topics due to the snakes sher size you can sometimes hear them breathing. I had a 8ft+ female redtail that would do it as well and she was really healthy. but it never hurts to be on the safe side id get a vet check if at all possible.

Temps for the first two days were ambient 80 hot spot 90-92 humidity 75-83

They are now ambient 83 Same hot spot and humidity 69 I mean he doest seam to do it with every breath but he doesn't open mouth or anything no bubbles popping or saliva you can hear it in a quiet room if u are listening for it and u have to be close and u can feel his breath if he is close to ur fa e when he makes the noise.

How big is he ? to much humidity could give them a respatory problem as well. If it was me id bump it down to around 60-70% I only bump mine up around 70-75% only when there in shed. But like stated my retic does same thing and he checked out with a clean bill of health. So its possible it could be his natural trait. I would bring the humidity down a little bit thought if its in the 80's.

It has been down the past two days he's probably about 4 or so feet about 2.2 lbs I've tried to listen to him in his cage and I can't here it I hope it's just somethin natural for him maybe some stuck shed but like I said he's done this since I got him Friday and no change or other signs or RI

Yeah if your really worried id just go to the vet for a check up. I had some that did that and that was a natural trait of them so its a very good possibilty. i always get my checked just incase.

Ok so I noticed some light pops occasionally but I don't see any bubbles I had to get right in his face to hear and I think I saw some wetness around his mouth, I'm taking him tomorrow to another vet one that does see herps alot, but he doesn't have his head up or mouth open and anything so idk

Could be signs of a early r.i. usually if you catch it in time bumping the temps up could clear it up if it hasnt already progressed. Do you know the type of inviroment he was kept in before you got him ? and id recommened a vet that does exotics might be a little more exspensive but it would be worth it.

Also alot of times when snakes shed they will have little pieces stuck in or around there nostrils and when they breath it will make that sound. So be sure to check that area. I have a retic that likes to whistle and hes healthy as can be

Sometimes they also do that if they're stressed, so if you aren't noticing it when he's in his cage then maybe he's just whistling because he's upset. The first couple times a new snake is handled, they can do that but be completely healthy.

So the specialist said he has a RI that he probably got during shipping he is now on antibiotic shots every 72 hrs doc says he'll be fine since it isn't a bad RI

also to clear this up, you raise the hot spot to like 95-96, and raise humidity by 2-5% should be about 60-62 during RI.

Its good thing you took him in then. I hate when crap like that happens.

I have 2 retics and a 12 foot burm that do. I also have a large male redtail that does it, I have had them all the vet all checked out healthy and all still went on small doses, initiated by me of antibiotics just to make sure. I notice it is done more when I or someone enters my snake room.

how long is it going to be before i start to notice him getting better, i mean he doesnt seem to be wheezing as hard, and i can tell his mucus is drying up, is that good?

Ever snake is different and how they personally react to the medication, age etc, young snakes such as yours will react faster than say older bigger snakes. But you should see signs almost immediately I would say within a week or so but make sure you use all the meds don't stop using cause he looks healthy, or you stop noticing everything seems to be ok. Use them all up, don't save them for another animal etc.. Also I wouldn't have any humidity, till he/she gets better. I would add water bowl every other day to allow your snake to drink and then after 2 or so hours pull it out. If he is shedding then soak him and get this off do not raise humidity
