Pinstripe Value

I purchased my 2007 female pinstripe in early 2008 for $600. Now, 2010 pinstripes are going for way less. I was wondering how much a 2007 1400g female pinstripe would be worth, money-wise. Not that I would ever sell her! She is one of those snakes I'll never part with. I was just wondering how the money of my snakes has changed since I bought them.

Breeding size females that are healthy and all that jazz are worth a pretty penny.

It's hard to say because there just aren't any for sale, and if there were it would probably get snatched up in a second.

$1000? $2000? More? I've seen 1500g+ pastel females go for $600-800 or so.

With pretty much any morph, you see supply skyrocket every year via exponential growth due to breeding, thus significant price drops over short periods of time. However, 2-3 years to wait to get a clutch from a newly purchased female hatchling is a long time to wait, so adult female morphs are often worth a pretty penny simply due to impatience :D

Big breeding morph females can usually sell for roughly $1 a gram and up. I could see a 1400g pinstripe female selling for 1000-1500 easy.

She's been breeding with a pastel. I'm hoping for some pastel pins. It's crazy how the values have been changing over the past few years.

Just as a side question ....how much are pastel pins going for?

$550-850 on the classifieds. In general they're just a bit above bees.

Seams like the prices are falling faster now than they have in a while. I remember when Pieds were selling in the 50k range, and that was less than 10 years ago.

I bought my bee at a discount at a reticon for 1100 2.5 years ago... now babies are 400-600, but he has mad me a clutch of 8 good eggs with 5 spiders 1 pastel and 2 normals. he has made my money back and I love this guy!! he will never be sold!

You mean lemon blast？ :) That should cost more than $1k in this part of the world, and your breeder pin is....priceless.

I produced a super reduced pattern spider fromt hat last clutch.. now it's time to see if it happens again and which parent did it.. :) this spider only had 5 or so lines on his whole body.. my avatar is him.. :)

In 2004 people would die to get their hands on a male Pinstripe for 25k.:taz::taz:

All snakes go down in value over time. You have to consider what you produced from that animal to decide whether or not it was a sound "investment".

BG would say your snake is still worth at least what you paid for it. Now just breed her and you'll be in the black for sure.:gj:

I remember someone posting once that pinstripes would hold their value because they where being marketed to a select group with tight price controls. Seems to me like that pretty much insures a big price drop eventually and something like the lowly ghost that never has been very expensive has lost the lease relatively of any morph. Basically high prices spur more production and artificially high prices through price fixing just stoke the production fire for longer. Pinstripe is now at the point where they are high on my want list and if I could have just sold my female mojave for cash quick enough at the last show I would have picked up a female pinstripe.
