    Hide in tub question...
So I'm almost done with building my first snake rack (for ball pythons) and I was wondering what hides you all use in your rack systems? What experiences you have had with different hides? The most economical ones...the whole shebang. The rack has four different tub sizes, but all four tubs are 6" tall. So I'm looking for hides for 7qt, 15qt, 28/32qt and 41qt tubs. (I was pretty ecstatic that I found all for tub sizes with the same height :D) Any and all information will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your lovely replies!

I check $1 stores a lot for small plastic bins etc that could be used as hides.

The perfect hides that you can get for racks are from reptilebasics.com they have different sizes for hatchlings to adult ball pythons... they're also very durable and easy to clean...

    I agree.

    I also agree with Austin236.

The only other options you have are making your own hides out of homemade clay. (I haven't had much luck with that) Or...buying rock/ceramic hides from local petstores. Which is what I use in my little rack, just because I already had some.

I've seen people use plastic flower pots.

Agreed. We use these for our BPs and they like them a lot. We bought our female pastel a plastic pot and made her a nice hole for an entry. We left the black hide in there as well and she seems to prefer that one.

What are you using as substrate? All my ball pythons have hides up until they go into their adult tubs (41 Qt tub) and then I take them away. I use newspaper in the 41 QT tubs and they use that to hide under. I would give them a hide though if I had trouble getting them to eat after taking the hide away. Thankfully I have had no problems yet though.

Here are some examples of hides too in case you have not seen this:

    Tupperware!
Have used square or round multisized tupperare containers for years! they work awesome and hold humidity excellent themselves, just turn upside down cut appropriate sized hole and good to go. I customize a bit but black ducktaping the whole outside to give the privacy.

    Seriously works awesome.

I use exclusively RB hides and love them. I use the smalls in my 15 quart tubs, and the mediums in my 32's. I don't use hides in the bigger tubs.
