Anybody been bit by a GTP?

I am interested in getting one. I was just wondering, since they have really long fangs, if anybody has ever got bit by one? The pain of the bite I'm willing to accept, but I was just wondering, due to their fangs, whether any medical treatment is needed if bit?

A GTP isn't a tree boa, but doesn't matter I guess .... Yes, been bit tons of times .... no, no medical attention needed.

hmm.. I always thought it was short for green tree python..cause that's what I meant. I do appreciate your reply Adam. You always give good advise, and put me on the right track.

Green Tree Pythons though Having larger teeth relative to their body size are very small pythons on average being any where from 500-2000 grams and 4-6 feet in length the most your going to get out of a bite is a couple of pin prick holes and a good bruise

Yes.. I agree with them. As far as my experiences go, snake bites are highly overrated. No joke about the bruise though.. they can look mighty impressive, while hurting little. (good deal if you ask me ;) )

I've found that theres 2 types of snake bites....One where it grabs something it wants to eat, they sink their teeth in, and pull themselves towards it or vice versa......then theres the other kind, more of a "get away from me!" bite, almost like a punch where they just hit you with their teeth.

I've seen then because I observed 1) my mexi boa strike at a mouse and sent it flying across the cage in the air (I was holding on to its tail). Definitely more of a 'punch' than a grab. and 2) I guess I creeped up and spooked a 14' burmese at work one time because it struck at the glass between her and I and it sounded like someone had punched the glass on the inside. Pretty crazy.

anyone had any similar experiences/observatons?

my old male BP would did it to mice a few times. and the glass, i know what ya mean by the sound of someone punching the glass

I've experienced the "punch" bite from both Issa (my ball python, 04) and an 04 IJCP male. The bite is over rated. The physical bite (not the venom effects) from a 3/4" tarantula hurt more.

You typically would not need medical treatment, but make sure you clean it out really well, and don't let it get infected.

Well, I got bit when I was checking out this little yearling that I got a few days ago, LOL. It calmed down once it was actually in my hands though.

Although I prefer GTP's with a lot of blue, someone told me this is probably a Biak but I've already fallen in love with the little devil so as long as it has a good feeding response (which I'll find out later today) I'll be happy, lol. Anyone else have any thoughts if this is a Biak or not? Oh well, I can still hope for blue but if not I'll still have the pleasure of raising this little beauty and getting a little GTP experience under the belt.

i've noticed my spotted makes closed mouth 'strikes' when i disrupt him... he's only like 8" long, but i've seen this from adult snakes in the wild too such as hog snakes and racers.
