    What phone for BG??
Hey guys and gals. BG needs your assistance. BG has verizon when he is in the US and needs a new world phone. Which one would be the best for him? He wants it to take good pics and work well over seas. The past couple trips the BG verizon phone did not work for out going calls. BG was not a happy egomaniac.:)

Verizon has a phone that many folks don't know exist because they don't advertise it. The Droid 2 Global edition would cover your world needs along with having a decent camera and large screen with keyboard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3_KD...eature=related

Thanks....BG will check it out. It sucks that verizon phones don't take a sim card. If they did you could unlock them in other countries and use them there to save a ton of money. Any ideas around this?

The Droid 2 Global does use a sim card. If you call Verizon they should give you the unlock code to use foreign sims as long as you've had service with them for more than 6 months. Just pop in a foreign sim and enter the unlock code given and you'll be all set.

I will have to check on that for sure. That's perfect for what I need. Thanks a lot.:gj:

Dunno if verizon has it but the nokia N8 is really good probably my next phone it's sim card phone has full gps touch screen and a HUGE! 12.1 MP camera with full 720p HD video recording. The gps system is good because apperantly nokia owns the satalites for tom tom gps for cars so top notch stuff.

It really does look good. BG kinda hates touch screen though. The camera and video on that interest BG though.

Nokia N8 is a great phone, but it won't help you on Verizon. It's also all touch screen and the on screen keyboard is sort of awful on it although they are supposed to be updating the keyboard and browser.

Yeah I see that. I need to get a new phone soon, there's just so many it's hard to choose. Not being able to use the phone when I leave the country has been a pain in the butt. I've had to get new phones there. I have so many phones now, I'm gonna open a used cell phone store. hahaha

Japan you could only rent one though.

I came from a blackberry and switched to the Droid Pro from verizon. It has a similar keyboard as a blackberry which is good for someone who doesnt like typing with a touch screen but also has a touch screen to navigate. It is a global phone and also has a sim card. Check it out. I like it but one suggestion get the extended battery if your a heavy user.

Good luck, getting a new phone is fun but also a hard decision cuz your stuck with it for 2 years.

Thanks buddy.:gj: Really..... thanks for making your first post on BP-net a post to help out Big Gunns. BG has put you near the top of his fan club for this action.:D Considering there are millions of members, you should feel honored.:D

Just got back from Verizon. They have a deal on Droids.... if you buy one get you get one free.(rebate) Now BG needs to decide which one.

Keyboard and display are much better on the Droid 2 Global, but the Droid Pro is a nice phone if you have ever used and like a Blackberry.

No problem, i've been reading everything on this site for months and want to get into snakes but havent made the jump from geckos to snakes. All in due time. I see youve got quite a fan club and ur threads are always entertaining. Im honored to be near the top on the list.

The deal from what i c is on the droid 2 and the X which wouldnt help you because you need a global phone. At that point your only options are D2 Global or the Pro. The only reason i didnt go with the D2 Global is that everyone says that the slide out keyboard is a waste because most people get used to the touch screen keyboard they never use the pull out. But maybe you will like it. Im interested to see which phone you choose and why, and how you like it.

    Good Luck!

    :O
I love me some keyboard!! I have a Droid and use my keyboard all the time, I really don't like virtual at all. It is a matter of preference of course...
I'm just waiting for Moto to build me a dual core 1.something huge processor keyboarded monster that is about the size of the Droid X. LOL.
That's what you need too BG, just wait a while, postpone your trip...my dream phone is coming and you will love it!
In the meantime, look at both the D2 global and the Pro.
