Central Illinois Reptile Breeders Unite!!!

I'm from champaign, IL and I'm looking for all you other reptile fanatics and breeders in this area! I am currently just getting into the ball python breeding game.. witnessed my first locks EVER just last night!! And even though it was just a normal x normal(my only mature balls) it was still exciting as ever! Anyways, I just wanted to see if there was anyone else around here who is into this stuff. We can buy and sell reptiles to each other, buy and sell feeders, or just shoot the breeze if thats what you're looking for!

hey man im from atwood about 30 miles south of you my first breeding season as well , ive had a couple of locks with my pastel x pastel pairing its cool to see im not the only one around this area lol

Awesome to hear from you! You don't happen to breed your own feeders do you(or know someone who does)? I've been looking to start my own rat breeding colony sometime around mid-January and I need breeder rats! .... It's starting to get expensive to buy all these f/t rats every couple months!!

actually there is a guy i know he runs the pet shop pe in mattoon he breeds his own rats he would be the one i would go see or even sailfin in champaign you could get some big rats from there to use as breeders. do you know anyone who would be interested in an 07 male spider bp im trying to sell him to fund another project

Yeah, I've been to sailfin before...a bit too often actually. lol. Thats where I got my first ball python! I think I'll go ask them what they've got.

As far as the 07 Spider, I am not really in the market for one..and I created this thread to find people around here so hopefully someone will show up who is looking for just that morph! lol

cool they should be able to help you out they will try to discourage you from breeding rats if you tell them about it though. i went in there once to get a trio of breeding mice and the owner told me that they dont breed their own rodents and i shouldnt try it good luck to you though

I'm live in the Bloomington/Normal area. If i get this new place i'm about to jump into breeding as well. I have one female normal that's not that far off from the weight of breeding got to get a scale that i can weigh her on. I have a Pinstripe male and a Normal that needs to be fatten up to breed. Holla at me :):D

Greg,if your wanting to bred rats or mice start with smalls and grow them up.This way they will produce more babies and you know what they are eating.To bad your not closer to me i have a guy selling small rats for $1 and also mice for $1.

joepythons, How far from the champaign area are you and this guy selling cheap rats?? ...if it meant small rats for $1 I'd be willing to drive a piece to get them...

I live about 5 minutes from Sailfin in champaign and they do sell F/T rats, however their prices are so outrageous(I think $4.50/rat + tax) that I have found its still cheaper to buy from an online supplier if you buy in bulk, I use rodentpro.com and order about 100/order and it comes out to somewhere around $1.40/rat if you get smalls or $2.20/rat if you get mediums and thats with shipping figured in. Past that idk anyone around who does sell locally(joepythons might chime in with some suggestions tho, he knows more ppl than I do), I plan on starting to produce my own rats in a few months, and I'll be letting ppl know on here if I ever get any extras.

Hello, I'm not a breeder but I live in central illinois and was wondering if any of you breed corn snakes or milk snakes? I'm looking into getting one in maybe a month if so, hopefully a baby :)

i just sold my corns but im thinking about selling my bps? anyone interested here in illinois? lol ill get back into them later but heading off to college or trade a couple for one bp? also theres a pet store here in town with a bunch of kings

I'd personally love to find a more local breeder to obtain from.. and SailFin is on my CRAP list... putting it lightly for SailFin... not trying to start a fight but personally me and the owner had a go around..to keep it short.

I know this is older figured id shout out anyway I'm in Kankakee I'LL. About 45 mins south of Chicago, an hour north of Champaign. I see a lot of posts from people in Illinois. I like there's a lot of hobby enthusiasts and breeders in IL.

There are a ton of us in Illinois. I'm headed to the AAE this weekend if anyone wants to meetup.
