    1st Time Rack Building...
HEy everyone, ive decided im going to build a rack before the spring is here. But im not sure what is the best way to do it, ive seen sooo many different styles os rack on here and on youtube that i need a bit of expert advice.

Im thinking of just buying a shelf from like walmart or canadian tire, but im also thinking custom made myself will be much easier and will fit better. I cam make the shelf no problem its just how can i run the heating on it properlly. Ive been told flexwatt but i dont want to have 1 plug per shelf then how would i run all the plugs into 1 thermostat? Is there a way i can run them in a series off one plug, the demo man for his product was a morron and didnt stay on task and showed the simplest instructions which didnt need 8ms and showed opposite of what ive been told.

just drill a hole in each shelf and run the wires to each piece of flexwatt, the last piece you bring a cord off of to plug in. its quite simple, heres a pic of the rack I built not too long ago

each yellow circle is a connection point, those are 2 seperate pieces of flex watt, the ones at the top are the cords going out, the ones at the bottom go to the rest of the rack

Essentially you are building a deep book case that holds storage bins.

I wired all my flex-watt into 1 plug via parallel wiring, and then plugged my 1 plug into my power-strip going to my thermostat. If you wired it series into 1 plug it would up the voltage and that's a no, no. Or you can just wire each strip into a plug...IMO that's wasteful.

u can't wire flexwatt in series.... i mean look at it, flexwatt is just a bunch of heating elements in parallel with each other. wire it anyway you want, it will always be parallel.

but I do agree just wire all the strips together and have 1 plug sticking out at the end, that's what i was trying to show with my pictures...

    Hi,

I don't think they ship to Canada though.

Bean farm used to and Calorique shipped some to me in Scotland.

Is flexwatt used in place of a UTH? Or would this work effectively to raise ambient temps too?

I only ask because it recently started getting colder here at night and im having a problem keeping the ambient temps warm enough. Tub + Tank, but probably changing the glass tank to a tub. Thanks.

flexwatt is a uth, uth means under tank heater, which unless you put it on the side, it is in fact a under tank heater :)

but yes change from tub from glass will make a big difference, the only people i know who have temp problems are people using glass.
