New safe method for live feeding
For those who can't switch their ball pythons or other snakes to F/T, I just had a genius idea! If they won't switch then hog tie the rats, or mice, and offer them hog tied!!!!

    ....Tis a joke....yes?

May seem obvious to the person telling it, but from the other side of the computer, plain text can be hard to judge. ;)

Sounds like a fun idea, now the choice of seaweed or twine. Then what to use to keep them from biting? hmm...... choices choices.

 Why? Feeding live well hydrated prey is already safe.

I can totally picture this attempt at hog tying

It's pretty safe to say I'll be offering live the conventional way :P
*I value my fingers and the skin that should remain on them*

I tried the hog tying thing, I only have 9 fingers now. I wasn't able to get the tiny ball gag in soon enough.:(

If you feed live properly, it should always be safe. I'm not saying accidents don't happen, because they do, but no serious damage would be done with supervision and prevention of biting. Keep Chinese chopsticks to stick in their mouth if they attempt to bite your snake.

If I were to try anything, I would try tying their mouth shut with the string... but I'm also going to stick with my conventional way. I'm in no way trying to push you out of trying it, but I would watch your fingers... trying to hog tie and bound a rat might be easier said than done.

how am i the only one to say this is just a tad inhumane? lol i know either way it only has a few minutes to live but idk it just seems a little mean to me.. you want the prey to suffer as little as possible.. its part of being a responsible reptile owner

funny idea but the thought of tying an already damned mouse and gagging it just makes me sad lol

i use a method i call "death from above"

you know the critter keepers? the plastic ones with a small plastic opening on top?
i put the mouse or rat inside put the lid on.
put the snake on top and they catch the scent put their heads in,
    and strike from the top.
everytime, not once did the snake not strike, they have bitten the rat/mouse
right behind the ears and wrapped completely around the rodent.

    its really cool to watch!

I just had a small rat get its mouth stuck wide open on one of my larger females 2 days ago and I totally wasn't prepared for that since it hasn't happened before. I freaked out and reached in there so fast that my wife said I looked like one of the ball pythons lol. I pulled the rats head back away from the snake's body and had to hold it until it died since it was still trying to bite. Ugh.

There were no visible bite marks/blood that I could see.
