    Ball from Work
I love working with the reptiles at work because the ball pythons are always so neat. We only get normals and I get to see just how wide a range the label "normal" covers. We have babies come in that are almost gray in color and we have some coming in that are so light, you'd think they were a browned out pastel. This is one guy I've taken a liking to. He just came in Thursday. I love his pattern and of course, I'm a sucker for a clear belly.

He's super mellow and if I can make room in my rack, I might consider buying him. (And he wouldn't go into the rack until after QT of course.):D Hope you like him.

I'm pretty sure he's a normal as this is Petsmart but I absolutely love his color and pattern.

I think what they meant when they said they'd be surprised if it wasn't a normal, is that it looks like it can prove out to be something else. And I was about to say the same thing. A lot of these normals are carrying secret genes that can make certaain morphs. Anyway nice looking normal.

When I first saw him my first thought was. "He reminds me of a cinnamon." I would love to get him and I hope I can to use him as a dinker.

I have a Black pastel male that is ugly like this guy.
His brother is awsome looking, but this guy I have to sell as a normal 'cause he is so ugly.:rage:

To me no snake is ever ugly. Lower quality for breeding maybe but not ugly. :D

Well I'm selling a few things on CL so if those sell, then I will bring this little guy home. Well, if no one snatches him up before I can get him. :O Even if he doesn't prove out to be anything, I still think he is pretty and his temperament is wonderful.

Oh and this is the other ball python we have. He was complaining he wasn't getting any spotlight.

Haha that looks like your New Arrival room. He is beautiful, we also get in a wide range of ball pythons, but all are Captive Hatched, so it's always a game trying to figure out what pattern will come out next.

Right now we have 2 Ball Pythons, a male and a female that have such high white on their lower sides, you would think they were pastels, without the light coloring.

Plus Ball Pythons are on sale right now for $56, so not too bad.

I know! That is why I want to snatch him up quick! Maybe I should just tell people he bites. Our last ball python was a mean little sucker. He didn't get sold for a while because people would ask if he's a biter, and we had to be honest. And yes that is the new arrival room. I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be taking pictures of our ball pythons on the clock (or at all for that matter) but I just had to show you guys. :D Normals are one of my favorites because they come in such a range of colors and patterns. I really hope I can add this guy to the family. :please:

Just because you work in Petsmart doesn't mean that you only get "normals" shiped in.

Haha, I didn't know they were captive hatched. So he might very well be something. I know Petsmart gets pastels in as "fancies" but I never heard of anyone getting any other morphs in.

This is why my kids cannot work at Petsmart. They'll end up bringing all the snakes home.

That one you got is gorgeous! I love normals!

    Thanks!

I love normals too. The patterns and colors they come in are simply amazing. None of my normals look alike. I love it. The ads have gone out for Black Friday. I'm happy to say I'll be picking this little one up for $30! I'm getting his QT tank set up today, so it'll be ready for him on Friday. I can't wait! I hope he is a boy too!

I'm always amazed at the variation in color and patterns in normals. Yours is a beauty. It reminds me of a Mojave.

Thanks! :D I'll try and get some more pictures of him tonight when I go into work. Maybe I can actually get some whole body shots where he's not all wrapped up on my hand. And when he comes home there will definitely be a huge photo shoot! :D

All the Petco and Petsmart ball python come from the same distributor who imports farmed babies.

The one and only Petsmarts in my area that I've ever visited, buys ball pythons from local breeders for resell. I'm not sure if this is just a single store's policy or not.

He definitely has cinnamon patterns, and with the white belly I wouldn't be surprised if this was an "ugly" cinnamon. For $30, I would take this beauty ASAP!

Did they tell you that? They have a contract with this distributor, and are not supposed to buy locally. Never heard of any Petsmart breaking company policy......

I hatched out a clutch of 7 eggs from a Cinnamon male bred to a normal female. I got lousy odds, only two cinnamons, but the "normals" looked odd. If you remember Chris from the UK and his Splatter Balls, that is kind of what mine look like. The ones I hatched out look like the snake you are talking about. When I went back and looked at my female, she has the same white dots along the bottom of her sides as the babies. Could be something there...
