if it was you, what road would you take?
so in january im going to the reptile expo in pomona, cali,
im taking $1000.00 to buy what ever i want.
now i want to get a (or few) females.
now one thing is i really want a pin. so thats a little less than 300 gone.
so i got 700-750 to work with.
i have a 1000gram male pastel at home and a 150 gram butter male.
a bumble bee female 300grams+ and a normal female 1500grams+
now i was thinking of going for a few lower cost morphs.
now i also like enchi's, and was thinking woma.
and obviously if i could find a nice butter/lesser im probably going to.
but all in the poll will be females to breed to my butter and pastel males. my butter obviously next season.
but im hoping to find some larger females to have as breeders next season. i know i probably wont find any morphs at larger sizes but, im sure
that i'll find some nice normals or one base morph like a pastel female tipping the scales.
-
the poll confuses me.
Wait. So you've already got male butter and a pastel, and you're definitely picking up a pinstripe... female?
I'd get a pinstripe female and a mojave female. Tough to beat a nice lemon blast or butter pin, and a BEL is worth its weight in gold.
You should still have money left at that point. There's certainly nothing wrong with a couple of big normal girls. If you want a morph, I the enchi will produce the most spectacular results with both butters & pastels.
I don't think I'd go recessive. Not unless you have another $1k you specifically want to dedicate to a trio, and a particular project you have in mind.

yeah i really aggree with the mojo & pin.
and yes i have a male pastel and butter.
and i am deffinately getting a female pin.
i was thinking of adding the mojo and albino to my mix.
i just want the albino for personal keeper.
but butter to mojo, pin, albino.
possible BEL.
mojo's
butters
im not sure if kingpins in the mix. butter/pin.
more pin's. more butters.
100% het. butters & normals.
thats a nice bunch.
pastel to mojo, pin, albino.
pastaves
mojo's
pastels,
lemon blasts
pin's
pastels,
100% het. pastels & normals.
sound good too. any one else's opinions greatly appreciated.
and i deffinately want a couple normal females to breed next season. but normals are a dime a dozen and i rarley have a chance at aquiring more than one morph
at a time.

I would go with something recessive

Although, super pastels have came down quite a bit in price and are a weapon in anyones collection. it all depends on what your considering on making in the future

Oh, yeah, good point.

Financially and strategically I don't think an albino is the best use of your $$$? Also, I'm biased because I just don't see the big deal with pastel albinos....
But okay, if you pick up the pin and the mojo, at that point you'll already be in a really strong position. And at that point if you want to pick up an albino because you just plain-old want one, well, I gotta respect that. :D

If it were me id def say get that pin girl, mojo girl, and a cinnamom or black pastel girl. With the boys you have now I think all 3 of those would go well with what you already have. Also id say if you want the albinos to just get a het girl for now to start raising up. Get a head start on the female for when you add your boy, or breed him to the bee to get pastel, spider, and bee's all het for bino and hope for a boy.

This is good. Possibility to make some snazzy morphs and some decent money down the road.

Normals, probably. Breedable weight pastel female in the middle of breeding season for $1K or less?
Seriously though, my breedable weight pastel female - no way I'd let her go at any time of the year for $1K or less, but most ESPECIALLY during breeding season.
As to the poll - get what you love. Period. And enjoy the time and the satisfaction of the next couple years of raising them up yourself. I have the most satisfaction from my big girls that I raised from little hatchlings than I do from the females I acquired through trade or through happenstance (like a pet store find from an owner surrender).

My thoughts exactly.
I'd also think about getting a male equal to that female bee of yours. She deserves to be paired with some powerhouse breeding potential.

For 750.00 I'd shop around for another combo female.. Not sure what they can be had for but I'd pass on the pin and get a Lemon Blast female or a Pewter female for 1K pied's can be had as can G-Stripes, some clowns, hypo pastels, Hypo Mojo's, there's allot to be had in that price range..

I think $1,000 can get you a female mojave and a female lemonblast. Get both from one breeder to get a discount.
male butter+ mojo = possible BEL
butter + lemonblast = possible kingpin, pastel butter, kingpin pastel

This is what I think
I would, buy the enchi female, and the pin. Honostly i just got. A pin, 2 fires, and ayellowbelly for 650, so deals are out their. And they are top knotch animals. Focus on the enchi and pin, maybe get a butter or lesser female. That together you could probably bargin for 500 or even less possibly. Focus on your pastels after that. Look for top knotch brighter then bright pastels. Maybe even a black pastel or cinny as well. With 1000 dollars, you should be able to greatly expand. But remember, their are deals everywhere and sometimes its not the best to go to a show for animals. Look around the web.

Also, if you are new to the industry or just trying to build that collection, get the pricy snakes as males. Get more females and you have a greater chance to get something out of it;)

ok! thanks to everyone who posted and polled! lol
so i have made my decision.
im going to go to the expo and buy me a spectacular lemon-blast. and maybe if i could find the right mojo' or lesser fem. i will! but i have someone who has a female mojo thats exactly the way i want her to look! take a peek!
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ve2010f1-2.jpg
if i cant find one exactly like her! i'll just buy it from my guy!
she's only 300, and i know i'll find a lemon-blast for 6-700. i found a bunch at the pasadena expo and i know theres gonna be a heck load more at the expo in pomona!
wish me luck!

If you like Albinos then get an Albino. After all, you will be looking at it everyday so you should get your favorite. I would invest in a Pied female and go with someone that will throw in a het Pied male for free!
-
Just a thought for you. You already have 2 males and 2 females. I would focus everything on females probably 8 more for those 2 males. Production is a good thing. I would try and steer clear of recessive and go all codom. And that mojo in the pic looks great! You should def go for something that looks like that. But enchi is the morph to breed into. The pastel to enchi will get you more than the BEL!

Re: if it was you, what road would you take?
With 1k to spend knowing your gonna buy a female pin....Do your shopping know what you want and look for the best buys on quality examples of the morph you are lookin at.... Things I would be looking for to put with a butter or pastel male
Fire
Mojave
enchi
black pastel (or cinny depending on what you like)
calico or sugar(take a big chunk of budget but worth it)
Hypo (be a project to work with, but hypo makes everything hott)
-
Re: if it was you, what road would you take?
dude, IMO you should get the pin, definitely! In my other opinion, dont waste your time with the albino unless you have a set plan for it down the road..recessives take years and years to produce the bada** morphs they can make...but as for what I would recommend other than that pin is a mojave and a fire, just because mojaves and fires are amazing morphs with endless possibilities.
Just my two cents,
Greg

well the route your going you can make all your money back 10 times over! haha still id say
mojave, albino
just my opinion tho
-
to loonunit! thanks i'll definately post pics up!
and to everyone else! a million thanks! i wouldn't know what i know about BP's if it wasn't for this forum!
im gonna go to hopefully find all females(i know i'll probably end up with something different and a mixture of beauties):
mojave, nice blushings, bright yellows, and a wicked pattern.
enchi, very reduced pattern, super nice blushings, and high yellows that would look more like they will hold as she ages.
lemonblast, busy pattern, bright colors, solid line(or close enough to) and a nice head-fade.
butter/lesser, super hot blushings, wicked yellow, and alien heads that look kinda like my males(see)
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...tter2010m4.jpg
and if i can find a good deal on these kids with the same breeder, to hell if i'd pass it up.
im going with a grand in my hand, and a goal in my mind.
to come home with a spectacular group of new-be's to get some sick combo's.
and im thinking, what if i just find a nice male enchi or woma to breed to my bumble bee down the line?
-
Re: if it was you, what road would you take?
Nice decision to go with the lemon blast!! I'm getting my female blast in the morning from a local breeder. I'm so excited!! I've been trying to schedule a time to go get her and it's finally here. I also say get the female mojo!! Maybe that's cuz I have a nice mojo het hypo and just love her! Pics will need to be posted with your new additions!!
