    What should I do
So I have a pinstripe ball python.
I might be getting another snake for chisrtmas
I cant decide if I should get another ball or get a diffrent snake
I am going to breed the snakes either way.
    I mainly like pythons,boas,and colubrids
    No venomous :P lol
So what do you think I should do

    cool
    so you work at bhb
How about house snakes or rat snakes

Rat snakes can be a handful at times with their common aggression and or musking.

I have a female house snake as well and shes gotten huge as well. They breed within first year of hatching and can have multiple clutches a year from one pairing with a male.

House snakes and or Childrens/Spotted are awesome.

Yes i work there and i take care of colubrid breeders.

    Awesome
So one last snake I want to ask you bout
    Hope you dont mind
    Carpets
So I know they can get 6 or 7 feet long
I know They can be a handful

They are cool but i would get some more experience under your belt before jumping into carpets. They are a lot stronger than the snakes listed above. And can get decent size in rather short period.

Are stimpsons the sames as spotteds and childrens
  • 11-09-2010, 11:35 PM
    RichsBallPythons
All three originate from Australia. stimson get closer to 4ft when well fed as children/spotteds avg around 3ft

Though thats just averages and some can get larger. But stimsons can be more nippy/aggressive that the other 2.

So whould it be easier to get adult pair of one of those snakes
    and breed those
Or buy a butch of babys and raise em and breed em and produce a butch of clutches

Best to start off with babies and raise them so you get a idea on how to care for them and what to expect when getting babies hatching.

So is it awesome being around snakes all day at your job

Its has its ups and downs.

And What king rats you been around that you love. They are absolutely aggressive from hatching to the 7ft adults is deal with.

So thats the deal with king rats are they like mini king cobras
Do they bite you the most
  • 11-09-2010, 11:57 PM
    RichsBallPythons
I get bit the most by Brooks and black rats. King rats do bite but their bite is a harder slam into the hand then release.

And they musk like crazy and for a 7ft female they can musk for a very very long time and stink an entire room up. I would not recommend King Rats to any beginner as they are a look but dont touch species.

Racks or Stacked tubs are the way to go. Though stacked tubs will get annoying very fast.

Can switch anytime. At her size you can get a 16qt tub and she will be in there till 600-800 easy.
