Extremely reduced-pattern BP
I'm not sure if this is a weird normal, or something else. I haven't been able to breed her yet because I had a terrible time getting her to eat until I figured out that she only likes medium-sized dark-brown ASFRs. You can see how thin she got in the 1st photo. She eats like a champ now.

Her pattern is awesome. I'd love to see the outcome of her breeding trials. What are your plans for her?
-
Umm, no she isn't rare at all, send her to me for full examination!
Actually even Ralph Davis will tell you that very reduced normal ball pythons are quite rare and the one you have is very nice. granted the one on Ralph's page is INSANE, yours is still quite nice. No one wants to take the time to prove it out, so it very well could be genetic.

I bet she has an awsome pattern but the photos don't help at all to apreciate the pattern!! Please better pics....

Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
to really make the call, we need better pics. full body shots etc. now it looks like a nice reduced but u cant really tell. so please post better pics
there are a few things that trp (true reduced patterned) balls have. to get and idea we need belly shots and head/ neck shots. u can also look at hunters guide to the morphs- he explains that very well there

I hope to pick up a Lesser to pair her with when she's up to breeding weight. She's eating great now, but has a lot of catch-up to do, so she'll probably first be bred in the 2011/2012 season. For now I'm just happy that she's eating well and gaining weight back. I thought I might lose her.

That has to be the nicest normal I've ever seen! You've definitely got an awesome dinker project on your hands.

Thanks. I got lucky. A couple of years ago someone was selling her because they couldn't keep her as a pet anymore, and I had to have this unusual BP. She's been a challenge, but is doing well and is very mellow.

Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
I would be THRILLED to have her in my collection!! A lesser would be a great pairing to start off with, as they have a tendency toward reduced patterns anyhow....could result in some awesomely wicked lessers!
-
That is an awesome snake. Feed her whatever she wants, and let us know what she produces when she does breed!
-
Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
like that snake, good luck on the breeding
-
Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
Oh yeah,
Lesser, enchi, spinner, clown... There is no end of the morphs I would love to see her paired with.
I think she would make a lesser spinner to die for.

Phenomenal example of a reduced pattern ball! I would love to have a female like that to add to some breeding's. Where on earth did you pick her up?
-
That is one beautiful snake ! Congrats on getting her to eat :) Would have been a real shame to loose such a gem :)
-
Nice! Somebody should work with this trait, as I think she is really pretty, all the best features of a normal BP but with a twist!

My records indicate she came from a breeder who's no longer in business. She's been with me for 3.5 years, and I'm not sure why someone parted with her at or near the price of a normal.

I'll post when she has hatchlings, but it'll be quite a while since she needs to gain a lot of weight.

If she does have similar-looking babies, please save one for me! I'll happily become a repeat customer, since the transaction with Nerissa went so well... she's a pain in the arse feeder (like the reduced girl), but obviously you can't help that. ;)

Very unique pattern! I love reduced.

That's a really cool looking ball python :gj:

Extremely reduced patterned normals like that are way more uncommon than plenty of the $10k+ quad trait animals (which the ball python market will soon find out are over-produced to maintain anything close to that price IMO).

Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
Gorgeous reduced pattern on that snake!

I know. Not at all like the rest of my normals, so I really hope to prove her out now that she's eating and gaining weight.

Then I better keep her safe.

thats a crazy patternnn...!!!.. :)

Beautiful reduced girl! In the 2nd pic on the red sheet, she somewhat resembles what I'd expect a very reduced leopard ball to look like...
-
I also want to be in line if she throws babies that look like that!!!

If she proves out, she's a much more extreme pattern mutation than the Leopards I found on Justin K's site. If it's not genetic, or she never produces, I'm still very happy to have such a nice snake in my collection.

Re: Extremely reduced-pattern BP
Nice looking female Jeff. Good luck proving her out when she gets up to weight

Jeff, I like your attitude :gj:
First, congrats on taking on such a difficult animal and bringing her around! She is definitely a beautiful ball.
Best of luck with her, and thanks for posting pics!
