If he's in breeding mode, chances are he will not want to eat. I would not stress him out with assist feeding, I'd just offer every 7 days. If he has good weight, and he should if he's breeding, he will be fine.:)

This is normal when they are breeding.
After breeding stops then feeding should resume in a week or two.
I would not stress unless he is losing to much weight.

    Good luck and dont stress..

Some of my males go off feed for months during breeding...others eat sporadically. Its nothing to worry about if they're not getting thin. Assist feeding will only stress them more. Just don't get too worried and be patient:)

My male Pastel goes off feed for 6 months every year during the breeding season with no ill effects. Personally I think the stress from assist feeding after just 2 months would do more harm than good.

My male pastel was off feed for 2+ months this summer, which was a particularly cold summer even for us... I think he was confused and thought it was breeding season, LOL. ;) He broke the fast last week, but I won't be surprised if he refuses again this fall/winter - it's that time of year, so really don't worry unless he's getting super thin. Most of mine have slowed down their feedings recently (a few have stopped completely), and I learned last year this was perfectly normal. Usually just means it's time for some lovin'! :D

850+ grams and your trying to force feed him?
He probably hates you about now and won't eat for 2 more months :(

Don't worry, it's pretty common, and he's got plenty of weight. I had a male who refused for 5 months last winter--he went from 850 grams to 570 grams. He didn't really start to look flabby until March or April. Now he's back up to 1068 grams, and I'm letting him have seconds if he wants them, because I don't know what he'll do this winter.

I recommend continuing to offer food, but only doing it every other week or every third week, just to preserve your sanity.

And get him a girl! That pastel's a beaut.

A bp with good weight can go a year or more without eating, I wouldn't worry too much. Make sure you are giving him a few days off between breedings though.

By the way, what's a Comlumbian Red Tail? :D
