I stunned a copperhead once. I picked it up and put it into a trash can until it regained itself. I probably should have been bitten that day, but I wasn't.

Yep, at one point I had over 20 hots in a 2bdrm house. Spitters, Monoculed(sp) pits, vines, mambas etc..

The one and only time I've been bitten was luckily my 7' Mangrove. Thankfully he is a rear fanged creature and didnt have the time to work his bite back to the venom filled fangs. Just tore the skin slightly like a catfish would..

My heart had never beat so hard. We were doing a full cage cleanout & I had him out in the yard sunning. He wanted to explore & when I told him 'NO' he told me "Hey guy, I do have teeth & Im faster than you buddy"... I didnt see the humor like he did...:O

Yep copperhead got me down in north carolina. My fault though, she was just swimming along in a pond and I jumped in and grabbed her. I did have on a triple glove, on one hand. :( I set her up in a tank took a shower a had a friend drive me to the hospital.

I should have/could have probably about a dozen or more times as a kid around wild hots in the south, but have gotten lucky.

    Watch out where you step.

I volunteer at a place where there's all types of venomous snake species from all over the world. They even have a huge King Cobra LOL.. It's pretty much a herpetological society. Super cool stuff.

I don't think I'd ever own a venomous snake, I'd rather stick with pythons and boas for the most part. My Blood is close enough to my favorite venomous species, a Gaboon Viper. Think about that. LOL :)

Not yet but almost. When I was eight I went crawdad hunting with my Dad. We were using a net to catch them and I would take them out and place them in a bucket. When my Dad and brother made the next pass I ran up to the net as they opened it. Well a cottonmouth met me about halfway. It was so close to my face it's tongue :lick: was hitting my nose :O. My Dad grabbed me by my belt and tossed me into the air behind him were my older brother caught me. I think the snake was as shocked as me because it went back in the water and we saw it come out on the other side of the pond. This was my first experience with a snake that I can remember.

I have been rescuing snakes in southern Ohio for as long as I've been able to talk; Mainly to the influence of my father, who is practically a professional at catching and calming wild snakes. He has never used gloves nor hooks, saves every snake he sees from road ways and trails, and has not been bit in over thirty years, and still at it! We have caught Copper Heads, and are hoping to one day rescue an Eastern Rattler. I myself have never been bitten by a venomous snake, but once by a common Water Snake, who a friend had said was a Copper Head in his barn. This is a very common misconception; especially if you see a 'Copper Head' swimming, it is most likely a common Water Snake, as Copper Heads can swim, but are not very water oriented. It is much more likely to see the common Water Snake swimming, and it can be difficult to tell the two apart.

Been with a friend that was almost bit by a rattlesnake. Not on this trip though, this is him moving it out of the road in the everglades.
