Chicago-land breeder
Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows of any good BP breeders in the chicagoland area (I'm south chicago suburbs). The one breeder I know of in Manhattan doesn't have the morphs I want (butter, lesser, or pewter) and neither did the chicago reptile house. So I'm turning to you guys! Any ideas?

lol... you should have asked this last week.
This past weekend was NARBC at Tinley Park, the biggest reptile show in the area. As with all reptile shows there were (too) many ball pythons of every variety everywhere.
As for anyone who lives IN chicago, I don't know of a single one.. sorry.
My guess is you're either going to have to make a long drive or ship. There are plenty within a few hours drive of Chicago.

I was actually there, lol, but I wasn't looking to get another BP yet (as I'd just gotten my first one two days before that). I just decided I wanted another one yesterday, so I'm shopping around to find good breeders and I'll probably wait a few months so I can get the best deal and a good looking snake :3
Thanks for your comment!

This weekend (sunday) there is a smaller expo in Wheaton, IL. Its only a 40 minute drive from the city, assuming no traffic.

Most of the local breeders will be there and there will most definitely be what you are looking for.

Re: Chicago-land breeder
If the Chicago Reptile House doesnt have what you want they can get it for you. Also you can check out Mike Kliest at Area51exotics.com. Hes in the area.

Might want to check into Rustys-balls.

Shock: they can?! Awesome! I didn't know that =) I'll have to call them and inquire about pricing.
Aaron: Gorgeous animals, but their Lessers are expensive :( still a viable option if nothing else pans out though, thanks!

Wheaton is a great show...Also, check out Mark Petros at http://www.ballpython777.com

You can try to talk Kaorte out of the gorgeous Lesser she's getting from me but good luck on that lol.
Yeah the All animal expo is pretty good in the summer. If I'm lucky I won't have Lessers or Butters hatching this season because they will all be Leucistics! Dream on right?
Also save every dime you make this year for the NARBC show next Oct :)

Yeah I definatly would check out this weekends show in Wheaton, it's fun & has lots to choose from! There are quite a few awesome breeders there as well.

Re: Chicago-land breeder
Look up Carl Vail. He breeds and is at every Wheaton show. I will be there Sunday getting mice from him. I have bought several snakes from him and have never had any problems. Carl is a great guy. There are a lot of good people at the show. If you want to meet up at the Wheaton show let me know and I can get you in touch with some nice breeders. Carl does have Lessers and many other morphs.

Maybe send them an offer? You never know!

Are you breeding anything this year? I'm breeding a male cinnamon to my female pastel who is a smoker. Maybe work out some kind of trade? I live in joliet so manhattan isn't far from me. Keep in touch.

I'm in Joliet too and I have some good pairings planned for this season. PM me and we'll hook up or something some time.

crbballs - unfortunately, no, as I only have one BP so far, lol! Plus, I don't have the money for that just yet, but maybe in the future =)
clint - I'm even closer than Manhattan, actually, lol. I live in Frankfort; the breeder I know of is in Manhattan. And unfortunately, I won't be able to the Wheaton expo :( I want to go, but my brother needs my car for work. I really appreciate the offer, though! I might hit you up another time if there's another expo in the area =)
foschi - I probably won't be able to buy another BP for months (I need to save up money) but once I do, I'll definitely hit you up! I'm really interested in lessers, pewters (though those are quite expensive...), and butters, so if you have any of those when I decide I can afford another one, that'd be pretty sweet! Would you happen to know of any vets in the area who deal with snakes? I don't have any problems at the moment, but I don't want to be floundering to find a good vet when/if a problem DOES arise >.<
-
Yes. Dr Bray at the Crest Hill Animal. He's the only strictly exotics vet in the area. He only deals with reptiles and birds and has treated 3 of my snakes in the last 8 years. I highly recommend him. He always recommends having cultures done and stool samples. He is very knowledgable.

Oops. Crest Hill Animal Hospital. It's on Rt 30 across the street from Sonic Drive In.

I didnt realize there was so many Chicago land people on here! I should have some lessers this season coming up but like Foschi said Im hoping for all white snakes too! Everyone above mentioned has very nice animals. I have seen animals from all those breeders and they are top notch. You cant go wrong with any one of them. Good luck getting what your looking for and good luck to all the local breeders this season!

Thanks guys! And yeah, I didn't realize there were so many chicago people on here either, it's awesome!
