Shipping in Canada, in this weather?

I have been looking into getting a new pair of balls to start breeding in the next couple years, but I'm a bit really terrified of shipping up here with the weather getting so chilly (especially at night, going down to almost the thirties (F) or about 2 (C). I was considering just waiting until the next show within driving distance (either here in Montreal or in Ontario somewhere) but the next one is in the spring.

Should I hold out until spring or are my fears of shipping until warmer weather unjustified?

Well, I don't know for certain, but if I had to guess, I'd say you're right to worry. At a minimum, if you weren't home and they were dropped off, sitting on your door step for hours in 40* weather could be bad.

at least it seems that way to me. Not sure on the particulars of shipping snakes though.

I don't know much about this either, but I wouldn't want to have them shipped either. I would either drive or wait until warmer weather comes back.

There is a show in november in Toronto, I believe it is the 21st.:banana::gj::banana:

The Toronto expo is actually Nov.28th! Here is the website: http://reptileexpo.ca/ I would not ship them this time of year! Is there a breeder in your area? You may find someone on Kijiji! Good luck!

If you go to Reptiles Canada.com you will find many great Canadian breeders who ship guaranteed to be alive across the country if need be. They will ship to your nearest airport with all needed documentation and you must be there to pickup at the airport for the guarantee to be valid.

ya i'd say wait till an expo, less they put a few handwarmers somewhere in the box to produce some warmth lol

I just had my Blood shipped here a couple days ago, and our weather is about the same, (Fairbanks, Alaska). He arrived just fine, well insulated and with a heat pack...:D

It's really up to you if you want to pick up locally or if they are shipped. The thing with shipping in Canada is they are shipped by air, so they are not left on your doorstep. I had my boa shipped to me from Calgary to NS in October of 2008 with no problems. If you do decide to get a BP shipped to you, make sure you express your concerns with the shipper.

The same expo is actually coming to Montreal on October 24th! (I have a countdown lol) I know there's a breeder about an hour away from me called RegiusCo, I don't know anyone who's ever gotten from them, but they seem pretty good...

Some breeders will not ship in the Winter months. However if the breeder agreed, and knew how to properly ship snakes I wouldn't hesitate to get a snake shipped to me during the winter. I would just wait for a slightly warmer day just in case.

On a side note, I have bought from ReguisCo before and they are great guys to deal with. Excellent quality animals and very well taken care of.
