    Is this normal behavior?
My BP Mitch seems to be... acting strange. He is moving kind of robotic like. Early today before i left for work i saw him slip off his water dish and kind of fall off of it. And a few minutes ago i watched him kind of slip off his climbing stick and smack into the side of the tank. Is he okay? Also he keeps trying to get out or maybe just climb higher? here are some pics...

It sound like he's really stressed out. They really shouldn't have anything to climb on because they're terrestrial animals and are very clumsy and will get hurt.

How is it set up now? He shouldn't be cruising around all day. Maybe if you describe your set up or post a picture of it we can help you out :)

He is in his FINAL home! No more moving. Im past the trial and error stages. His temps are good on hot and cold sides, 78.9 cold / 94.9 hot (under hide). So no more moving. Ill post some pics in a min. Let me break out the droid.

Top. Aluminum foil with double sided tape holding it on. In the lamp there is a 60W CHE.

Tank over view. Its sitting on a 3 foot spool. 10-20 Gallon UTH is under his hot hide. NOT on the glass but on the spool itsself.

Mine was doing that, climbing on the thermometers and everything.

Turns out she was just really hungry and was searching for food. What's your feeding schedule?

He may never settle enough to thrive good in that tank. He may eat here and there but babies when young need to be in tight places and be feeding fiercely.

Most balls stay in 6qt tubs till their 400 grams here. Just to give you idea.

How often have you been handling him? You should just leave him be for now and only really interact with him when you open the tank to give him his mouse. You've probably been told that a million times if you've asked something about a new bp here before though but I thought I'd cover that base just in case.

Bp's like to feel secure. Yea the enclosure is too large for him, if you don't want to switch him try cluttering it up. Try fake leaves and I think some people on here have recommended balled up newspaper if I remember correctly [can someone else correct me if I'm wrong please?]so he feels more secure. It'll make that big tank feel a lot smaller to him. Plus it'll give him more places to hide while he's "out." Bp's will explore a new location. If you just put him in the tank in the past couple days he's going to explore. Just leave him alone, feed him, and clutter up his tank and I think he'll be ok.

thanks for the advice guys. ill throw in some rocks or something. maybe his old hide. Im trying to avoid fake plants cause they are pricey, and real plants because they are a bacteria breeding ground. Ill try the balled newspaper if that gets green-lighted by someone else. I haven't handled him AT ALL except to move him into a new tank. On a side note, I did my first live feeding today! He did really well. About 20-30 minutes to kill and eat it. He kept trying butt first... but he eventually caught on to eat the face first. Im so proud! <3
