Do you use hides in your rack tubs?
Hey everyone.....I am in the process of transitioning my BP's from cages to my first rack. I am curious as to how many hides everyone uses in their tubs. Is it necessary to have a hide on the warm AND the cool side like it is in a display enclosure? If you only use 1 hide...do you put it on the warm side, the cool side, or somewhere in between.
Thank You!!!

i give my babies two hides no matter what, as they grow i remove one hide to give them room. my adults are also offered one hide they can move around their tubs.
Re: Do you use hides in your rack tubs?
I use hides on the snakes that seem to need them. Those that need them tend to not feed well if they don't have the hide.
Typically they'll hide under the newspaper anyway, even though I give them a hide. They do pretty well without the hide, though.
So in a round about way of answering your question, yes we use hides in the rack, but only for some.

Hide on the hot side, water bowl on the cool side.
I tried no hide with a few but they like them too much b/c they went on a 2 week strike from eating without them. haha
Re: Do you use hides in your rack tubs?
I offer hides in both my hatchling (6qt) and yearling (15qt) tubs. Once they move to their adult (32qt or CB-70) the hide is taken away. If I ever get a picky feeder I will offer a hide but it hasn't happened yet. :)
Re: Do you use hides in your rack tubs?
I use hides in my rack for the simple reason that I put them in there originally, and I see that they use them. With the exception of my big girl Valentine, all of mine are usually snuggled in their hides if they're not hunting, so they obviously like them. :)
Re: Do you use hides in your rack tubs?
I use two hides in the CB70 rack tub for my 9 year old rescue male because he uses both daily and eats more consistently with hides in the tub. He's a stealthy ninja who ambushes his f/t rat from safe inside his hidey hole. :)
Though I use the black enclosed RBI CB70 rack, this particular snake seems less stressed with two hides in the tub... so that's what he gets.
