    My first Crested Geckos
I went to the Wasatch Reptile Expo today and came home with a gorgeous pair of Crested Geckos. I have been wanting a pair of these guys for a while now, and since they were set at a price that I could not turn down, I went ahead and got them. They're now chilling in their new home, so it is going to be a very long two weeks before I can start to handle them. :D

    Hi,

Cute as a couple of buttons. :D

I like the heart shaped feeding dish :) - what are you planning diet wise for them?

They are very cute. :) As long as they are eating well you really only need to wait about a week before handling them. They aren't quite as delicate and stress prone as some other reptiles. :gj:

Thanks so much! :) I will be mixing a Crested Gecko Diet that I bought from Josh (the guy I got the Cresties from) with some blended bananas or peaches or pears, etc. Once that runs out (which he said it would last for at least a couple of months, since they are so small), I will be going with either the Repashy CGD, or something similar from Mazuri. ;)

That just made my night. :D I am dying to handle these little cuties because they are so sweet and gentle. But I definitely don't want to stress them out. I caught Kika licking from the food dish earlier today, so hopefully Moko will follow her lead. lol!

the only problem is when you ad things to the diet it throws it out of balance. I would only add things to it as a treat. I bred these guys for about 6 years and after seeing people mess their diets up it can shorten their life. I know you are not meaning harm, but its a complete diet and needs nothing else. The only other thing I would do is feed crickets dusted with the diet a couple times a week. Got my little guys use to the flavor so when it came to just eating the diet they took to it easier. I personally liked to use the gargoyle diet, wasn't as sweet as the other diets but had more protein and my hatchlings grew up quicker and bigger.

What kind of Crested Gecko Diet did you buy from Josh? Repashy CGD and Crested Gecko Diet are usually the same thing. If it is the Crested Gecko Diet Complete then it should not be mixed with anything other then water. Adding fruit will throw off the nutritunal balance of the food and increase the sugar content. If you purchased the Crested Gecko Diet base, then you can mix fruit in with it. It's just not an exact method and you never know if you adding too much fruit or not enough.

Unfortunately, Repashy doesn't make the gargoyle diet anymore.
