    Granite Ball
I found some one selling an 07 granite male for $50. The snake comes with the tub, heat mat, and hide as well. I've emailed him asking him tons of questions, and for photos. Does this seem ridiculously cheap to you guys? Should I jump on it if it's legit?

    Hi,

I may be wrong about this but isn't it the case that not every snake with "granite" markings is genetic?

I'm not sure. I asked him if he had proof of his genetics or if he bred the snake himself. I haven't gotten a reply yet but if he has proof and the snake is in good health, I'm hoping to get it. It would be a cool to breed him to my normal female and back to a granite offspring to (hopefully) get a super for my first breeding project. Idk though, if it's a picky eater I won't get it anyway. He has a yellow belly and a bunch of hets too for the same price, so maybe I'll go one of those routes.

    Re: Granite Ball *WITH PICS
So I got an email back from the seller. She says that she bought the snake from NERD, and I trust that they wouldn't sell a normal as a granite just because it has the pattern. Do you guys think it's a granite? It looks like a pretty good example to me but I have a very untrained eye.

its worth a shot to see if its genetic...
if it proved out, thatd be sweet.

I mean, I'd pay that for a normal, so if it proves out (and I won't be breeding it for a few years) then it would have been well worth my money.

Looks potentially genetic to me. $50 and a set up...worth it.

    Hi,

If you want confirmation you could possibly contact NERD?

    Nice looking snake though. :)

I'm picking him up Sunday. I can't wait! She said he's a little feisty, I hope he tags me! I've never been bitten before, my snakes are so calm and collected.

... What a weird thing to say.

    slightly....

But I totally know how you feel about not getting bit. It used to drive me crazy not knowing, and reading everyones stories on here. And finally it happened and boy was I disappointed lol.

It's ok...I've only been nailed twice. Once by a baby ball python, and once by a really hungry 500 gram pastel.
    That's it.

Hey I was wondering, what does a "super" granite look like? I didn't even know that the granite trait was genetic.

There are certain markers to look for when determining if it's genetic or not. Even then it sometimes doesn't prove to be a genetic trait. If you look on Kingsnake classifieds there is a super up for grabs, that's the only place I've been able to find a good picture of a super. Not many people are working with it because it usually isn't genetic.
