Never leaving town again!!!!!!
After much thought & debate, I decided to go home to NC for a visit, ordered and rigged the water bottles for the ASF's, made arrangements for my son to come feed & water them every 3 days for the 7 days I was gone, fed all snakes night before I left, so there was no need for him to deal with them, simple enough right?......
WRONG!!!!!!
I come home after driving 12 hrs to escaped asf's from the grow out tub, so I'm thinking no big deal, I'll set some rat traps, it's 4:30am at this point so I go to bed. I wake up around 9 this morning ready to head to HD for traps, after I spot check all the snake tubs, I notice 1 tub is cracked ever so slightly, I'm thinking no way, this can't be! Yup female het pied GONE!! No setting traps now.
I call my son, to let him know that that the escapee asf's weren't his fault, and casually asked if he checked on any of the snakes, and he said yes, that he'd checked their water dishes. GRRRRRR
So to top things off I check on my girl Thema and she's coiled up around at least 7 eggs.
So now I have to go thru every box sitting in my dining room that is supposed to go to Goodwill to make sure no snake or rats are in it, have to drive an hour to go borrow a friends snake w/ camera attachment to look under and behind fridge, stove etc.

OMG you have your work cut out for you girl. I feel for you. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

Re: Never leaving town again!!!!!!
Sorry to hear. I'm lucky that I have a landlord that actually likes reptiles and will check on mine for me if I'm going out of town. All I ever have him do is check on the water and make sure they're all ok, but it's good to have someone like that around.
My sister also volunteers to do the same thing, but the landlord is right on the other side of the house so it's easier for him.

Thats the things that drive me crazy while I'm out of town. I do a lot of shows and stress the whole time I'm gone about the rats and snakes and I'm normally only gone for 2-3 days...

Re: Never leaving town again!!!!!!
Hopefully, you'll find the snake and find it about 300 grams heavier than when it got out. If you know what I mean!

Thanks all, I found her in the closet of the reptile room, spotted her sticking her head out under the door, wasn't fast enough to get her before she wedged herself behind the boxes lol. she is now safe in her tub, and mouse traps are set :)

Glad you found the runaway! :) I didn't even leave town this week, and tonight (about an hour ago) TWO of my snakes escaped... apparently my cat had jumped on the rack, and managed to jostle their tubs just enough to leave an escape crack. I found the cat staring at one of the snakes, who was sitting on top of the rack, and the other was found after about 20 minutes hiding in the closet. Thank goodness neither of us lost them permanently!
P.S. The rack mine escaped from is unfinished (no back), but I thought it was secure enough - clearly not, so I'll finish it asap. ;)

Re: Never leaving town again!!!!!!
Oh good grief! You were quite lucky to have found him so quick..congrats.
If it makes you feel any better at all I (all by myself) lost my baby iguana somewhere in the house and cannot for the life find him. Then my 10 year lost a hopper mouse that was for one of our lizards....(he was playing with it and it got away). Then lied about it....ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Thankfully they found the mouse....still looking for the iggy. lol Fun with reptiles
Congrats on the eggs...even if the timing wasn't that great!
