Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
i know its not too unusual, but im concerened now. temps 89, I dont think
it should take quite this long?
I have 8 eggs with no signs of pipping
-
I wouldn't worry to much yet. If you are not comfortable with cutting give them 2-3 more days. If you don't mind cutting then cut a flap in one and have a look. At day 60 you shouldn't have a problem if you cut.
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
Mine just hatched last week, didn't start to pip till day 61 - 63. Some eggs started to dimple, one egg didn't at all stayed perfect and still hatched perfect baby.
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
I dont want to cut if I dont have to.
My eggs are clumped together, but the 3 on the top are nearly half deflated.
the other eggs look full although they are probably deflated as the eggs on top are pushing on them.
Tuesday is day 62. when should I be concerned?
:please:
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
If they were mine I would cut them and at this point pull the clump of eggs apart. If one tears now it no big deal
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
do you see any wiggle in them ?

Do you Candle them? If so, a lot of times you will be able to get a response from them and see them move with a light squeeze here or there
Of course I may just like to play with my eggs too much :gj:
As for cutting @ day 60 it should not be a big issue if you have been incubating at 89. 60 days is not something to get to worried about. If you are scared to cut I would try the candling response to see if they are alive and kicking.

Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
CRAP now day 63! candled them previously and saw tiny red veins, but the eggs still feel like leather? and kinda hard. I have not seen any movement at all, but I really cant see into the egg.
today I found this egg with the black marks? this doesnt look good!
Should I be worried? or just cut it?

-
just go ahead and cut the black spotted one, or you are just gonna worry yourself to death
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
:( Just cut the spotted egg, looks like he didnt make it?????
he was small and kinda pinkish. he wasnt moving..
I put him back with his brothers and sisters until tomorrow when I cut the other eggs and see if there is any movement?

Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
Two of my eggs hatched on day 62. I cut the 3rd the next day. All was good.
-
i hope your egg made itttt! )8
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
This really is not looking good.
I'm questioning if any of the eggs
Made it at this point. There must have been
Some catastrostrophic failure
Somewhere down the line?
I will be cutting the other
Eggs later today, just hoping to
See some movement in any egg.

Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
The cut egg looks very dry, as does the two on top. The substrate looks pretty wet in the picture. Did you add water recently or did you leave it uncovered?

The eggs were uncovered, however humidity in the incubator averaged 90%
the bottom was full with water and the incubator had a pretty good seal. Never had to add water. Humidity fluxuated from 87-94 (depending if I opened the incubator.)
Today is day 65 and im going to cut the rest of the eggs in a little while, Im hoping at least some of the others made it?
-
Sorry hope the rest goes well:please:
-
I hope these guys are okay. Did you cut the other eggs?
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
Day 65 and I cut the other eggs, unfortunately the bad news contunues:(
The pairing was a VERY reduced normal female to a Cinny. Out of 8 eggs it appears I only got 1 cinny???? thats kinda bad odds isnt it?
unfortunately that Egg didnt make it either. He was a very drak bably but look how tiny. Something else is going on inside this eggs, so I just let it be for the time being. The other eggs I think are showing some movement but very little
It could be from me handling the eggs, not really sure. I guess Ill just leave them for now and hope for the best:please:
This could turn into a real tragedy, this whole expierence really has not been fun at all. I feel like this is all my fault:confused:

sorry :(
Is it normal that the eggs appear so dehydrated ? They look dry/tough from the outside, and the inside has hardly any of the "goo" in it...
Not sure what happened but sorry, that sure is a bummer :(

Those other eggs look extremely dry as well. I've never heard of an uncovered egg container in an incubator, so even though your humidity read 90% that may not have been enough. My egg bins are covered with Stretch-Tite which insures nearly 100% humidity at all times.
I'm really sorry about your bad clutch, but hopefully your next one will turn out better.

Well Ive pretty much gathered all my breeding info from this site. I posted pics last year of the set-up without eggs covered, people said it was good as humidity was 90+ %
im going to check on them now
-
try adding some water to them

Ditto that. Adding some tepid water in the eggs would help keep the egg shells from becoming hard and keep the babies from dehydrating.

I found a sticky in the breeding forum that describes how to set up an egg tub. It does say to cover them. Honestly, not every variation to breeding has been tried out and 90+% humidity certainly sounds fine, but maybe it isn't in practice. It looks like you found out the hard way that it doesn't work with your setup. :(

Eggs are too hard, water runs right off them (but they just became hard a couple days ago.) Humidity is Humidity, wheither their covered or not?
the good news is I did see movement in a couple eggs. (and there may be a cinny in one of them? Tomorrow is day 66...
what the record? I have to be getting close to it

I was unprepared for these eggs, I would have covered them but the pile was too high for my tubb and incubator. hte entire bottom was filled with water!
I dont see how they could possibly get more humidity than that!

I mean drip water directly inside of the eggs, not on the eggs. I had to do that with my last clutch. I cut them on day 58 because I was impatient and some of them made their own slits and started sticking their heads out on day 62. They wouldn't budge from the eggs and things were looking really dry in there (most of the goo inside had spilled out or simply dried up) so I started dripping luke warmish water into each egg (enough to get the babies wet and keep their yolk sacs moist). Today (day 64) they're all finally out of their eggs.
-
It is easier to keep a consistent humidity in the tub when it is covered and easier for the eggs to absorb the moisture! Also the medium will not dry out! You need to get a bigger tub just in case you need more space. We only learn by our mistakes! Good luck with future clutches!

LOL.. my whole incubator is smaller than most of your guys egg tubs!
I never had to add any water, there was no place for it to go.
The sides (and glass front were constantly covered in humidity.
OMG I think its a miracle! I dropped a couple drops of water in each egg and im vertain there was movement in at least 4 of them! INCLUDING that little PREMIE CINNY that I presumed had passed!!!
OHH. I am praying that little guy is tough, and can make it!.
I am on an hourly watch since today is day 65! AND i DID SEE MOVEMENT!
camera is ready just in case a miracle happens.

If you have been opening the bator alot could be drying them out. also the temp would be lower for awhile. I bet they come out fine for you.
Rick
-
Oh, that would be so AWESOME if they made it, crossing fingers and toes here :):):)
I would keep adding water, the eggs on top and that open one look very very dry. Also, I would cut each egg a bit, they might be to tough for the hatchlings to cut through themselves...
Good luck :)

That's great! Just don't let the insides of the eggs dry out and your babies should be okay. :) It may take them a little longer to absorb their yolk and leave their eggs but patience pays off.
-
Mine took a long time too. We cut at day 60 and they didn't come out until a week later. And, we didn't see much movement either. Just keep adding lukewarm water. I put a bottle of saline solution I had inside the bator and used that to add water into the eggs everyday. You can just put a small bottle of water in your bator if you can fit it and use that water to put a little bit in each egg daily.
Good luck! We're pulling for ya!

Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
Pics are here! Day 69 and the last baby is out of the egg!
the 1st baby out was little cinny runt! I am very worried about him and am not sure what to do. If anyone has any advise or tips to get this little guy eating and surviving, please respond in my new post about taking care of the little runt.
Momma Was a VERY reduced pattern normal, and daddy was a Cinny.
Momma seemed to toss out reduced pattern babies, (which is what I was hoping!) The cinny runt is dark with a very weird pattern. Obviously he has struggles in the egg and "anything" could have happened?
The Runt!! HE refused to move in the egg! touched him dripped water on him nothing! I was sure he was dead! but he was 1st outta the egg!

Thanks for everyones help, only lost the 1 egg, and ither than the runt the others look big and healthy!
PLEASE reply with any tips or suggestions to keep the runt alive.
-
You may have to assist feed right after first shed, give him a pinkie to start with, if he does well with that try putting him in a deli cup with the lid on for the next feeding and see how he does. My little runt was 26g and he's doing better now. Good luck they are beautiful :)

Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
Congrats on the clutch! Your runt looks so neat! Can't wait to see what it looks like after shed. :)
-
congrats ubber happy for you!!!!!
-
Does anyone have a link, or video, or directions on how to "Assist Feed" a little ball?
I know im not gonna like this!
-
Re: Day 60?????????? when is the last day i should cut?
sweet snakes, I see a nice cinny in there, you better send it to me just to be safe:P
as far as assist feeding, try to see if he will eat a mouse pink or fuzzy on his own after first shed, if not google it, I think clarksgeckos has a you tube vid on assist feeding, gl and send me that cinny$$$
