what size tub should Ibuy to house my adult ball python....
I am building my first rack this week and just wonder what size tubs you guys use for adults? Not all my snakes are adults but I want to build the rack to be able to hold them when they are. I was thinking going with a 41 quart (36x16x6 roughly). What do you guys and girls think?

    36x16 is a good size.

Most breeders use the CB-70 size tub in their adult bp racks.

    got another question.....
all the tubs i have found don't lay flat on the ground...they are raised up a few cenimeters by a ridge on the bottom. Is that okay? I guess I can just raise the temps a few degrees on my theromstat to make up for that. whatch think?

For my adult females, I use the 41qt sterlites which have the ridges and it works just fine. My males I keep in the 32qt tubs.

I keep both my adult males and females in 41 quart tubs. And I have my juvis in 32 qt tubs.

    I use 32 quarts (23 5/8" L x 16 3/8" W x 6 1/2" H) for males and 41 quarts (34 7/8" L x 16 5/8" W x 6 1/8" H) for females

if you guys use flexwatt where do you tape it to your shelfs? the length or width? the 34" side or the 16" side?

You have to watch the tubs that have the middle raised as it acts like a bubble. If you push down on the raised part, you can see that the floor of the tub actually rests lower than the edges. If you are using heating cable/tape/pads on the bottom, you have to make sure that the raised part doesn't touch the heat source. I struggled with this for a while but then just decided to get different tubs. Walmart offers Sterlite tubs that are flat on the bottom and they are cheaper than most other retail stores. I suggest you use them

I forgot to add, if you are using a thermostat which I highly recommend you do, you will still not want to use the tubs you have chosen because the temperature difference between the heat source and the bottom of the tub is still significant. It is possible for a heavy snake to weigh down the raised part and burn herself. I hope this helps
