    Updates on some Pied Combo's
We finally had a few days below 100 degrees and there was actually a cloud in the sky so I took a few pictures of one of the yellowbelly pieds outdoors post-shed. Also I had promised to follow up with eye pictures of the lesser pied. Last but not least, a picture of our latest combo clutch with a Spied and a Coconut Pie!

    Yellowbelly Pied, AKA Pumpkin Pied

This Lesser Pied eye color is really tough to figure out. They are very reflective and there is really no discernible color other than seeing red in the pupil if you look at it just right. It is my opinion that because the eyes are a little smaller, the pupils tend to be open wider so the red color or the reflections dominate the eye color.

This is what I get when I use the flash indoors... A reflection from the flash.

Here is a picture taken indoors under a fairly bright fluorescent light. You can see a hint of what may be pale lesser eye color around the large pupil.

And next is a picture taken outdoors.

And finally here is our latest clutch: 3 Pieds, 3 Spider Het Pieds, 1 Spied, and 1 Coconut Pie!

    Thanks for looking!

I've been out of town for the last 2 weeks. I'm getting new pics tomorrow. I'll get updated pics of the Pewter Pied as well.

What are the odds of getting a coconut spied? Is it really rare? Anyone know the odds? I just purchased a spied male and will breeding him shortly to my poss het pied female.

I should get (if she proves out) 25% het pied, 25% spider/het pied, 25% pied, 25% spied.. So out of the 25% chance spied, I get a coconut pied should I consider my self extremely lucky? Or is it something like 1 in 4 spieds are coconut spieds??

I would guess it is polygenetic but it seems to happen quite a bit, I've probably seen 1 all white spied for every 2 with color, but thats just based off of pictures online and what I see at shows.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I was kind of thinking it might be a polygenic trait that shows up. I'm hopeing one will show up in my future clutch!
