Re: affordable thermostat?
I'm planning on getting a hydrofarm off of amazon for $28.50 since I only have one snake and I plan on keeping it that way for a while, I'm maxed out on pets. I decided on the hydrofarm because it had good reviews, while I have heard some bad stuff about the thermostat you speak of, and I really don't trust anything from zoo med or exo terra, as in, bulbs, rheostats, thermostats, etc...because those things have always broken on me, but there are both positive and negative reviews about that thermostat. Hopefully someone chimes in who has used it before.

I also have two of these and they have worked really well for me.
Re: affordable thermostat?
I use the 500 and have had no problems...
Re: affordable thermostat?
All I have to say is: you get what you pay for.
In my eyes, there is no such thing as an affordable thermostat. Thermostats are expensive because they need to be to work properly. A $20 thermostat is better than no thermostat, but I'm just not willing to take that risk.
Re: affordable thermostat?
Rheostats/dimmers DO NOT work very well unless you have almost perfect room temps. My dimmer fluctuates a lot because my room goes from 70-77 during the day and I'm always going back to turn it down or up. It's really annoying.

:gj: I bought 2 a while back they get the job done :), though I just bought a helix to run my incubators,
