Sudden weight gain and hard as a rock..

So my big girl has suddenly put on 500g in four weeks and has become absolutely hard as a rock... She either has a major poo building up or.. something else? IF she was bred.. she was underweight.

She is eating, she doesnt seem to be wrapping anything, she is getting kinda grumpy suddenly - compared to her very docile temperament two weeks ago, she has poo'd and had a lovely one last week.. but i got her four weeks ago so no idea what happened before that.

Watch and see or vet visit?

Probably is building up to a healthy big poo

Hmm... i'm no expert but with all the weight gain and the temperment i'd almost say she's got eggs. Plus her being hard too.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong though :P

Or... maybe it's a 350g poo. You'd need gloves for something like that.

lol - every day i open her tub expecting to see two snakes..:D

Ok, I am just curious as hell to know if it was a big poo......I know that is sick but hell I think we are talking a record here.

when my male albino decides to impress me with a "dog log" of his own, he will become more stiff around the vent until he finally surprises me. :gj:

haha, ive noticed my spider does that a lot. he is a holder and exploder...which is not a fun smell to wake up too.. and not fun to be woken up by your snake breaking wind as he excavates his extremities..

i first noticed she was getting harder before her last poo and it didnt go away after the last mess she left me - which was in the water bowl if i may add.. bad girl!

One night about two weeks ago I was cleaning her tub out and stuck her in with my other male. that was only about 3-4 mins. But ive only had her for about 4-5 weeks now. we got a proven breeder BP about a year and a half ago who only eats hamsters, and one time we were very concerned about him, as he had eaten 3 hamsters without ever pooping (that we noticed). so we thought maybe he was constipated and gave him a bath. all that swimming sure loosened him up...

i swear to god, some logs came out that not even i could produce!!!!! it just kept coming, and they were SO BIG i had to call my boyfriend into the bathroom. there i was, sitting on the edge of the tub "DAAAAAAAAVE YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!!!!" it was absolutely revolting, but i was pretty laughing in absolute hysterics, as well as being repulsed, lol.

i hope it's eggs, but be prepared for a big one!

Palpate her and see if she has any lumps, if she is going to drop eggs you'll want to be prepared.
She looks awful big for just a poo :confused:

haha, just to see if that would produce results i gave grumpybutt a bath. Just made her more ticked off =P She did however seem to enjoy being in the bath after awhile. Getting her out of the tub was not fun.. she coiled up and looked like she wanted to rip my face off. she finally calmed down a bit lol

I think ill just let her chill til Saturday and see if she will eat. If last Saturday was any indication.. she will devour whatever i put in front of her.

I did that yesterday and today. I felt a small lump about 3 inches up from her vent, but she did pass an inch long urate today, so im guessing that may be what i felt.

Maybe it's just me, but in those first pics she sure is glowing. I'd say have an incubator ready. You're gonna be getting some eggs, whether they be vanilla or chocolate... :rofl:

LOL aye - im checking around for one! At home now for lunch and she is again curled into a ball over the heat. last night she was soaking in water..

LOL - well an update for ya..

She ate saturday...and made one heck of a mess. Blood was everywhere :puke:
She is getting ready to shed. i would say another 2-3 days for shed..
She hasnt poo'd yet, so im starting to lean towards a massive poo, lol...
She is absolutely hard as all get out right now. The last foot of her body is like stone hard

Well that sounds no good. I think a trip to the vet is in order. Sounds like impaction or maybe egg binding though I don't know what the symptoms of egg binding are. But impaction is blood and hard lump in the back quarter of the reptile.

Edit: oh wow, I'm double sped. I'll just leave it like it was since obviously you guys should know I have a mental disorder ;)

yeah... if she had blood coming out her tush would be at the vet. No blood, just a grumpy fat snake, lol

Maybe you should think about having a vet do an x-ray or ultrasound. At least let you know what it is. An impaction that big might be fatal....

Maybe a local breedeer could check for you...

If the snake was impacted, she wouldn't be eating--relax.

Intestinal impactions universally cause severe nausea.

well.. here is big momma one week later..
She is deep in shed. Got in to change her water and she was laid out nicely. first ive seen her laid out like this in about 4 days.

Im thinking... this is just one heck of a poo getting ready to blow - but will certainly keep my eye open for any changes.

She had a nice clean shed, had a normal sized poo and seems to have returned to a more normal state. She is no longer hard as a rock, temperament hasnt gone back to normal.. but her tub did stink like the ****ens. I was gone all day so wasnt here when it all went down... maybe it was gas, lol :D

i thought that a day ago but she has just gone down in size too much. she no longer has that big girth that she did before.

its all good thought =] i was worried if she was bred before getting to proper weight so that takes some relief off my shoulders. she will certainly get her chance to shine in a two months though! :D
