Interesting pick up
So here is the story. I was at the local reptile shop and I was talking with the owner who I am friends with and he shows me some babies another local breeder had taken in to the shop and sold to him. I know this local breeder and I know everything he has. I saw the babies and jumped all over the price they were offered. There were a total of 4 of them and I took them all and to top it off they are all females. So I get them all home and I cant take my eyes off of them so after a few hours of looking at them through the plastic I go to bed and wake up today really wanting to get confirmation on what I think they are so here we are. I took a few pics of the least extreme of them all head, belly, full body, and one of the pattern up close. They were taken from my cell so sorry if they are not great quality.

So let me know what you think these are... I ask only because the breeder claims it was only a normal to normal breeding but I know for a fact he was just tossin any male he had with any female he had and was rotating them all throughout the season.

I am thinking either cinny or hra not sure which because the guy has both of them.

Re: Interesting pick up
Looks like a pretty normal to me? It has a cool pattern, but I don't think it's a cinny or plack pastel.
Man...the more at look at her she does look a little black pastelish??? maybe call the breeder?
-
Nice BP type markings in the alien heads. Take some pics of the others :)

Re: Interesting pick up
Wow, that's a tough one. The head looks normal to me, but the pattern and flames don't. They don't quite have the floating pattern of a cinny/BP, but maybe a HRA. Hopefully some others will chime in.
Either way, it looks like a good find. :gj:

Nice Pick up! They look like Het Red Axanthics to me. The only way to be sure is to breed them though.

Re: Interesting pick up
I find it interesting that a lot of hets get sold as normals. You def. got something there. What it is i dunno. Breeding is the only way. Its really hard. I would take it to a reputatable breeder and start researching to find a good match to try to prove what it is.

Thanks everyone. I am lucky and have a cinny male as well as a HRA male so splittin the clutch and breedin 2 to the HRA and 2 to the cinny but this is just odd... Don't forget those pics were with a 2.0mp phone camera lol... I will get more of her as well as all her sibs and post them when everyone is out of shed... Oh I did forget to mention that they are all in shed right now and all fed first try while still in shed which I know is a trait of the HRA, they will feed at any time in my experience.

Re: Interesting pick up
Also kinda reminds me of the black backed sables that Kevin has over at Nerd. Check the second pic from the left on his sable morph page; but not as dark. It will be cool to see what it actually turns out to be, and I am sure whenever breeding time comes the waiting game will be extra fun.

Did you yourself verify the genders? I find it hard to believe someone would sell females who could be cinnies or HRA to a pet store.I could see males though.
-
Yes I verified the genders. I am going to be breeding 2 of them to my HRA and the other 2 to my Cinny I just picked up when the females are breeding ready in a few years. I just can't wait to see what I pop out.

The store owner didn't tell you what it was?
-
They are not cinnys. They have some granite looking speckles and the pattern is really cool looking. I don't know what they are but they are some really interesting looking snakes!

Ok as stated in the original post the origional person who has owned snakes for all of 6 months said it was a normal to normal breeding. I know that the father to those babies could be a pastel, cinny, het red, ghost, lesser, normal, or a granite. He took his males and puth each one with each of his females that was the only clutch he produced and because the normal was the last one with her he says there is no way it could be anything but the normal as father to babies. As we all know that is not true it could be any one of those males or all of them. So the "breeder" who produced them has no clue what he is doing and sold them as unsexed normals because he has no clue how to sex a snake at all. The store owner showed them to me I said if there were any females I would take them so he and I went to work popping we both popped each baby twice and then just to confirm that we probed them because neither of us could believe that they were all female. So I took them all for a little above what he paid and that was that. Now I have them and I plan on breeding them out with a cinny and a het red that I have already in my collection and seeing what I get. When they are breedale there will be posts from breeding to eggs to hatching all they way through first shed. Until then I do know they are nothing more than a dinker and I am treating them as such.
