Stepping aside from Admin for a bit

Well friends,

I'm quite sad to say that I'll be stepping aside for a while. It is, of course, for a great reason that I am incredibly excited about.

Next week, August 30th, I'll be leaving for Air Force basic training. I'll be gone for a little over 8 weeks - so the obvious there is I won't have any access to a computer to help out with BP.net.

After basic, I'll be sent to Keesler AFB (Biloxi, MS) for about 6 months while I attend school to learn about my job. It's my hope that I'll be able to have the internet and the time to come back and resume my Admin position here - and continue to help out with whatever necessary. But it's the military - nothing can be predicted. I'll know more once I get there.

So, I will continue to get all the bugs worked out from the upgrade - hopefully before I leave. I still have a good 5 days that I will be around to help out with any problems. So with that said....back to the grindstone working out these nasty little bugs ;)

Very cool! My friend left for basic training a couple weeks ago for the Air force, he's 18. He's working on becoming a Sere.

Nate - you know we'll keep your seat warm - and we're so proud of you!

Good luck Nate. Try to get stationed in Japan or Europe. See some of the world while you have the chance. Anywhere except in North Carolina. The Air Force base here is called Seymour Johnson. Yes, that is the name of the base...:rofl: Take care and good luck...:salute:

If you ever get stationed in Diego Garcia (nicknamed the rock) don't drink the beer! They do have some awsome deep sea fishing in the indian ocean on your off time though. Good luck!

It's been a long road. Spent a few months studying for the ASVAB, and then went and talked to a recruiter, who scheduled me the next week to take the test. Scored pretty well - not what I wanted to get, but I qualified for the jobs I wanted. Mostly Cyber Warfare jobs. I'm the tech nerd here, so it makes sense that I get a job in computers, right?

Got a call a bout 3 weeks after going into MEPS with a job offer for Cyber Transport Systems apprentice. You do any research, you'll know you can't be picky for the Air Force. ANY job you can get, you're lucky. Did a little research on the job and it turns out it's right up my alley. It's mostly computer networking.

I'm hoping to cross train in a couple years into Cyber Warfare Operator - but who knows? I may end up liking this job so much I want to stay - Or I may end up hating the military lifestyle so much I bail. Just hafta see how things go :)

good luck at BMT ive been in for almost 7 years and its like any other job it has its ups and downs. Keep your head up at BMT. If you get a chance volunteer for KP duty. Learn the airmans creed before you leave it will keep the TIs of your back for a little bit lol.:salute:
