Interesting....do you have any clearer pictures? Do share!
-

Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Peter,
I see that you found the forum, perfect!
On a dutch forum we were wondering if this was a paradox spider with the albino influences visible or not?
In another thread on this forum there also is a 'paradox' spider with white spots. That spider hasn't got the albino gene. So where do the white spots come from. It doesn't make sense.
On the dutch forum there is another guy with a paradox spider. But that spider clearly has the paradox symptom, spider / wildcolored. So are the spiders (with the white spots) mentioned above really paradox spiders, or just freaks of nature?
-
I've got no real idea but it sort of looks like a Pied Spider?
If it's not a paradox that is.
Only reason I say that is because the Spider gene is the only other naturally occuring type of BP that we know of.
I don't know much about genetics it's just a guess!
I'd have to see a better picture. Cool though.

Every base morph is a naturally occurring snake, including spiders

Usually Spider Pieds are all white with a Spider-like head.. This snake is totally different. I have no idea what is going on.
But I am unsure of what you meant by the bold text above. All base morphs that we know of are naturally occuring BP's because they were caught in the wild. The designer morphs are what we've created.
If I've missunderstood, I apologize.

Yea I meant that it's the only morph ever found in the wild where all the other morphs came about because of humans breeding them specifically to create more morphs.
And that the Spider gene is a dominant gene. Like I said i'm no BP genetics expert :P

And your completely wrong, but that's ok, we all learn as we go.
All base morphs have been found in the wild, none have been "created".
-
Alright well then I need a history lesson. I had thought that the first Spider was the only wild caught morph.
Anyone have a link? :P
-
TO tell you the truth, just from the quality and size of the photo, It looks like there are no scales where the white is... Like a birth defect or if the egg was cut the face was hit with the blade... Just my observation with the pic I was given.

They are all wild caught... Why do you think they are "base morphs" and not "combo morphs"

Very true... but I'm sure there are "combo morphs" somewhere in the wild.

I'm not sure where a link to a history lesson would be, good question.
I think that albinos were actually the first morph ball python brought into captivity, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
The op's snake is awesome, I'm not sure I've seen a paradox spider show white.
Better pictures would be SWEET ;)

Those two photos are A LOT more clear... I'd say you have a hold back and wait to see what happens

thats an awsome spider! id say paradox, is it male or female? is the head the only place that pattern is doing that? you must keep and breed it out or send it to me lol.

Sorry but that's not right. :weirdface
Only designer morphs ( i.e combo's ) came about that way.
If it's a base morph humans had nothing to do with it - that's all mamma nature at her finest.

Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know what Id call it..
ADORABLE!
So cute, and definitely a hold back. Might be a fluke like paradox, might be a hidden gene. Either way I'm about envious and would love to see what develops.

Definitely an adorable spider!! Sure seems to like that little bowl! :P
I'm wondering if it might have been some quirk of incubation, rather than a genetic cause. However, if it were mine, I'd definitely be keeping it to breed back and see if anything else odd pops out. Not to mention keeping just for sheer cuteness! :D

Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool spider indeed. :gj:

Whatever it is or proves out to be, I think it's absolutely beautiful!! Love it!! :)

Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is one very unique and gorgeous spider!

I happened to be visiting some of my favorite older posts and found this one.
Any update on this amazing baby? I'd love to see what he looks like now.

lol desert are dominate and found in the wild all dominates and co dominates are found in the wild even the snakes hiding the genes where do you think we got them? we didnt make all the morphs out there? if you import wild ball pythons you can get granites pastels and yellowbellies they are more common when getting an unopened bag of ghana babies so no you really are wrong sorry but spiders are nice and all they just arent as special as what you say they are very common among alot of people

Ummm, aren't you a bit off topic ? The OP called his spider rare because it doesn't look like a normal spider. If I hatched that spider I'd call it rare too. Heck, I'd call it one-of-a-kind, because it is.
Someone else said spiders are the only morph found in the wild, and was of course promptly corrected.
I'd still like to know if this baby is thriving and what it looks like now.

If they didn't read the date of the thread, a single post after the thread started, or your last post, what makes you think they will read this? Hahaha.

very intereting looking spider, call him scar face : )
-
Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky you, Saskia!! Even without the unusual markings, that would be a very handsome spider. The markings make him exceptionally special! :sunny:
-
Wow. Those updated pics are just awesome-ness. Nice little spider!
-
Re: rare Spider !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm surprised he sold it, but that is a great pickup! Really cool one of a kind snake regardless if it is genetic or not. Congrats!
-
Now that's a cool looking spider :gj: :gj:

I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon for posting to this older thread. I am glad that the thread popped back up, because I don't remember seeing it when it was originally posted, plus, we actually got to see an updated pic. Thanks for the update by the way.
Now, on to my thoughts on the snake. It is definitely a paradox, and is something that is not completely unheard of when breeding animals involving the Albino gene. Typically I have seen this when Albino is on both sides of the pairing, and in some cases, the snake is half Albino and half Normal. The question there is: what is the genotype. In other words is it an Albino with normal paradox markings (i.e. two albino alleles on the locus), or a Normal with Albino paradox markings (i.e. one albino allele on the locus). Kind of like the age old question about a Zebra being black with white stripes or the other way around.
While this animal is not as drastic as some, it would definitely be interesting to see the outcome of it's breedings (please remember to post them whenever it happens). The sad thing is the one or two animals that we see produced like this every year, end up being lost forever. I have never heard of or seen the outcomes of these paradox animal breedings that include Albino in them. Obviously the smartest breeding to determine what is going on would be breeding the paradox to an Albino, to determine if all of the offspring are Albino, or there are some hets in there, as this would definitively determine the genotype of the animal.
Thanks again for the updated pics, and I hope we can see some breeding results in the future.

Thanks for the nice repy's :)
As far as I kno the parents are Bumblebee X Albino, so he should be a normal paradox spider (Spider Het. Albino).
I will try to breed him with an Albino female next season and I will keep you all updated.
I will also breed him with a pastel het.albino female who has produced paradox offspring before :) I'm pretty sure its not genetic, but who knows....
Regards,
Saskia
