The Leucistic is a Laucistic Texas Ratsnake and the attitude is pretty typical for a Ratsnake.

The snake behind it however is a corn ;)

I would not buy that. Look at it! And there's an amel corn behind it, clearly showing they are co-habbed.

Also, I bought my 08 lucy for $35. Quite low as the seller just wanted to get rid of it and some others, but 110 is a bit much for an animal that looks evil and is clearly co-habbed. I am also a bit afraid of whether you think it was a luecistic corn (which doesn't exist) or were told by the seller and just went with it.


Again, I wouldn't buy it.

Nothing wrong with co-habbing if done properly.

I'd pass on the snake. I've never really cared for any of the Tex. rats, attitude wise.

I'd go for it. just cause it is a rat snake don't mean you got to hold it. some will tame down some won't it just depends on the snake itself. as for price what all comes with it cage wise what size and what other stuff for heating and such none the less if you want it get it but rember you could be taking on somebody else problem. like others have said can find them cheaper (but what all in the set-up you get could make it a good deal) but if the first owner pecked on the glass all the time or did anything else to more or less keep the snake stressed out it will more then likely never calm down. where as if you get a baby right from a breeder you could possibly get one that will tame down. just rember not all will tame down but there is a chance you could get one that will tame down.

if you get this one though just rember to tame it down your going to get bitten several times and it is best when taming them down not to put them away just cause they bit you as they will learn if they bite you put them down. I'd go with holding at least 5 minutes at a time and when handling even if time is up and they bite you as your putting them down hold them a lil longer just so it don't get the idea your putting it down cause it bit you

any way it goes that is a lovely lucy and would make a good addition to any collection even if it can't be held

You have no personal experience with this species do you? How many snakes do you have and how long have you had them?

I've had a few dozen over the years all wild caught my cousin who lived in Waco would catch for me. yes some of them tamed down some didn't. but snakes bite out of defense and if you put them down just cause they bite you they will see the pattern that if they bite they get put down. no snake is OK with being held some deal with it with-out biting though but just cause they don't bite mean they like to be held. best you can do is show them you aint going to hurt them.

right now got a few ball pythons a few green tree pythons (tame enough to hold took getting bitten a few times and not letting them think i was scared of them biting me) Burmese blood python. gargoyle geckos Tokay geckos. Goliath bird eater about year old so not full grown yet.

lets see herps i have kept in past Burmese close to 20 foot when gave to zoo cause couldn't afford the food anymore. copperheads, cottonmouths, coral snakes, western and eastern diamond backs, and timber rattlers. rainbow boas, king snakes (cali, prairie, grey banded) milk snakes (MOUNTAIN KINGS, NELSONI, HONDURAN) countless anoles all types. iguanas a dozen or so (cousins son use to buy them when on vacation then when they tail whipped him they found there ways into my collection) black racers, blue racers, garters corn snakes. yellow anacondas had a breeding trio (also given to zoo once they started pushing 12 foot one had good temperament other 2 were mean as could be) think thats it will have to check old records to see if there was more went off what i could rember off the top of my head

Pretty ..... impressive. Got any pics of the burm? The yellow anacondas?

This dozen, as in twelve, iguanas, how long did you keep them? And all this wild caught stuff, was it a keep for a few days thing or did you maintain them for years?

Seems you've had quite a number of reptiles pass through your hands.

the iguanas were more or less not that well maintained i had a 5 foot long glass display case my cousin gave me with the very first ones he got it was never to the point had 12 of them in there at one time but there was 5 or 6 at one point in the cage at once some were babies towards the end of me getting them (his son is into snakes now where i got my blood and Burmese from looking for a home out of state for the burm since he is right now bigger then our state allows now. keeping the blood though thats my soon to be 5 year olds snake that and 2 of the ball pythons but got bought the blood from him got cage and my light i let him. barrow back for 275 and got the Burmese and it's cage and heater for free the Burmese was 8 foot when i got it almost a year ago


how long was the wild caught kept most long enough to make a Lil profit off of. well lot of profit since it was free for me to get. but i kept 6 in all for over 2 years not quit 3 years were adult size when got them. 4 were tame enough at the end you could let a 6 or 7 year old play with (younger seemed not to understand not to make sudden movements around a skittish snake) had a couple clutchs but never got any to hatch but hey i was only 12 and INTERNET wasn't nothing like it was back then (dang that makes me feel old i can rember having to use the old tandy computers from radio shack) but was one of the first to lay eggs for me and never had to put male with female. wasn't interested in breeding when i had them and could get them for free. but sold most to kids from school or friends of cousins sold one or 2 of the tame ones to pet shops in a town 60 miles away (just so i could pay for a different snake i wanted.)


pixs no i've went through 4 moves over the 10+ years since i had them when i gave the burm to the zoo is when i gave the yellows away. and lost 2 houses to fires since had them.

around 15 i had my first ball to have it's eggs (the wild caught almost 6 foot female wouldn't eat anything but rabbits) she got me interested in breeding that next spring i had 7 clutches and hatched 6 (would say not bad for first try but lost 8 or 9 litters due to didn't really care about eggs can't hold an egg before i got those to hatch) but have hatched I'd say 90% of all the egg laying species I've kept since thens eggs. thats where one of the Tokay i got came from wild caught mother laid eggs it is tame enough i could hold it if i wanted to but don't really like being bitten by tokays so don't want to take the chance she will take pinkies right out your hand. come to you the closer you get to her cage open the door and she is right there waiting for food or a fresh spray (only other herp we got that aint got a lock on that son won't let out of it's cage. all mine got combination locks on or doors are screwed shut so he can't open them.) others are his blood python but he's lost his ball pythons a time or 2 for a few days till his mini pincher goes nuts barking at them when she sees them.

don't even ask me what all i plan on getting this upcoming tax time to many species to list a dozen or more made up of boas, pythons, milk snakes, king snakes, and rat snakes most other then boas and pythons have worked with before but getting into breeding pretty much every thing kind of popular and breeding them as long as adults stay 8 foot or less (state limit on size here is 8 foot unless got a permit)mainly just a trio or 2 at first to see how well they sell before having tons of breeders

oh and the hots as they are called now were kept 2 years on average i caught them feild herping when starting at age 14. we would go on vacation every other year we would either drive to Florida or Texas. in the glades for Florida. outside town at Waco in Texas so always had tons of room to go out hunting for snakes and lizards i could find. but I'd catch them watch and study them then return them very close to where i got them from when went back the fallowing time.

thats back when i wanted to grow up to be a herpetologist. then turned 18 and life hit me in the face

If you're looking for a corn, pass on that TX rat. If you aren't experienced enough to tell what it is..you probably will be biting off way more than you want to chew with a snake so pissy that it can't have a picture taken without doing that.

Yes you can hold him frequently and work it out of him, but their aggression stamp is just deeper than your typical colubrids, it's their reputation just like the huge amount of "Bug Eyes" in the leucistics. Can anyone argue that?


Thank god for my leucistic black rat! She was most expensive ($150?) but her bites are usually hunger strikes since she is my often eating garbage disposal

Otherwise, leucey TX rats typically are $55.. if I had to get one I'd be searching for a baby.

Leucistic Texas Rat Snakes, hatchlings - $65 each

thats from retailers not breeders or wholesalers though
