Hey guys, need some pairing advice for my bee and pin.........
I have 2 pastel females and 5 normal females. I am going to breed them to my males this winter, both 08's, a bee and a pin. At first, I was going to put my bee to the two pastels and two normals, and the pin to my three remaining normals......that would give me a shot at killer bees, bees, pastels, spiders, and normals. Now I am thinking of putting my bee to my normals for a shot at bees, pastels, spiders, and normals, taking the killer bee out of the equation........of course then putting my pin to my pastel girls and a couple normals, for a shot at spinners, lemon blasts, etc. I also thought of rotating both males through all my females with the proper breaks of course. Decisions, decisions.
What do you guys suggest?

Pastel to Pin wont get you spinners. Spider to Pin will get you spinners. I personally would do Bee X Pastel, Pin X Pastel. Leaving the normals out.

I would put the pin and the bee to a pastel each and split the normals. :D

Yeah, I was thinking of putting both boys to both the pastels and splitting the normals. No way I'm leaving the normals out when I have a great shot of getting bees, spiders, pins, and pastels. I guess I can hope for two sires or at least they will back each other up.

Why would you leave the normals out? Tons of normal females are bred every season, males can handle more than one female. By breeding a bee to a normal female you have the chance to produce bees, pastels, spiders, and normals.
To the OP I would go with wax on this one , and split the normals, and then pin x pastel- and bee x pastel

I agree. One male to each pastel and then of course the Bee to 3 of the norms and the Pin to the other 2. I'd give the bee that little extra chance to produce another Bee!! But if it were me I'd probably put the Bee to both pastels and double my chances at a Killer!! But I guess that's cuz I love the Killerbee LOL

both males to ALL females...

I'm pretty much back to square one. Of course I would rather my bee go to the pastels, but I was thinking of running my pin through them too just in case he didn't deliver. Since there are 7 of them, I did think about running each male through each female over and over. I figured 2-3 days with one girl, two days rest, 2-3 days with the next girl, 2 days rest, etc.

It all depends on what your shooting for is it a Killer Bee, Bees or lemon blast? If it's alittle bit of all of them then do Bee x Pastel #1 and Pin x Pastel #2 and rotate them like every so often or do half the season one way and half the other. Now if you looking to hit it big and get some Killer bees then I say no pin at all. Bee x Pastel #1/2 for better odds. And split the normals anyway you want you just have to go through the same process of "what am I looking to make here??"

Pin to both pastels and Bee to the normals..

Not that it has not crossed my mind to do that, but why do you think I should put my bees to the normals and not take a shot at the pastels (killer bees)?

Pin x Pastel gives you a 1:4 shot at Blasts
Bee X Normals gives you a 1:4 shot at more Bee's
Bee X pastel gives you a shot at bee's, Super Pastels, Killer bee's, Pastels, Spiders, Normals
Your odds are better breeding the Bee to the normals

Cover the following:
Pastel X Pinstripe
Pastel X Bee
and then just cover the males again to the normals giving you 50/50 remember you can breed males you just need to give the a cooling period of 3+ days.
So then just breed your normals like so:
Normal X Bee
Normal X Pinstripe
Normal X whichever one you want more :)

Re: Hey guys, need some pairing advice for my bee and pin.........
Yeah, I guess I have to figure out what I want more. The bee to the normals gives me so many more/better options then a 50/50 split of pins and normals, so I do like the 1/4 odds of getting bees, spiders, pastels, and normals. I also like the 1/4 shot of getting a blast, along with 1/4 shot of pins, 1/4 in pastels, and 1/4 normals (pin with pastel girls).
So would you recommend 3 days with one girl, then 3 days off, 3 days with another girl, 3 days off, so on....?
