Rip
so Lucy's eggs are on day 54 sigh the squished one didn't make it and started to get nasty growth on it nothing like I've seen on the forums. However, I decided to pip the eggs and well remove the icky one since i was placing the others on sterile hospital paper...I got the egg away (yes you have to wait for pics of babies they blow bubbles ur way though) I was curious to see when it dies and what could have caused it......Turns out it died not that long ago right before taking them from mom and placing them in the incubator. Cause of death moms weight. Turns out she crushed its head in a crease in the egg. Sigh poor babe you will be missed. No no pics for it was way to graphic. I can tell you it was def normal with really pretty pattern. when the babies poke their heads up I will post pics

Re: Rip
That's a shame about the squished egg. :( Looking forward to pics of the others.

Re: Rip
You decided to cut the eggs?.. Pip means they cut on their own. Sorry, hard to understand things when I'm tired.
Sorry to hear about the squished one.:( Good luck with the remaining!

Re: Rip
yes I cut them I needed to get the dead one off as it was growing fungus bad and did not want to risk the others health. It was on top of two extremely healthy eggs which the babies are fine in and very alert

Re: Rip
Sorry about the squished one - that sucks. :( But I look forward to seeing the rest of the babies! My clutch is on day 52, and still has that squished egg I showed you... but it's candling with good movement and size, so I'm guessing he/she will make it. :please:

Sorry for your loss.
Also, a moulded up egg will no no damage at all to healthy eggs and can be kept with it's clutchmates throughout incubation.

I've seen the threads with those eggs that were moldy and the clutchmates did fine but I never noticed the visible rotting of the egg. maybe i should have shown pics ekk the baby inside was crushed in a crease by mamas weight just before i put them in the incubator. the youlk inside started to go from being hard to almost fermenting and changing back to goo when i decided to remove it.....p.s. the smell was icky living in az with swamp coolers and monsoon not a good mix better safe than sorry in my eyes

This is very true. My female sat on her eggs all the way till I got my incubator and opened them up. She started out with 5 eggs. One she kicked out, which was fertile and I had my distributor house it for me. One of the 4 remaining started to mold; since she was on her eggs you can't bother her. Needless to say it was interesting trying to remove it when it came to me opening my babies windows. lol.
