Does my girl look gravid?
I put my pin in with her in the beginning of June. I never witnessed any hookups. I did leave them together for a week or two, in case he became interested.
She hasn't eaten now since July 17th, she has previously never skipped a meal, except occasionally when in DEEP Blue. She last shed middle of June. She has recently, within the last month or so, seemed to have gotten "fatter" even though she hasn't eaten in a while.
I'm looking at her today and see she is laying sort've lop-sided over the heat tape...

Is she maybe gravid? Is the time-line more or less right? Or is she just going off feed early for an upcoming shed? This is my first time attempting to breed my bps. :D

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
I offered her a rat again today and she sniffed it a bit but then ignored it, same thing she has done the last few tries.
PS, she is 1581 grams today.

Looks like it's time to take a dump...:D

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
YEah I noticed that too. Maybe she is just "holding". :D

That would be my guess :P

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
I left the rat in there with her and I came back an hour later and it had "magically" disappeared. :D Hunger strike aborted I guess. Maybe she is just wanting them dropped off now instead of zombie danced.

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
Now that she has eaten I bet she makes bears tomorrow....

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
If you hold her up from the first half of her body and let her hang, you will be able to see the eggs(if she has them).
-
Re: Does my girl look gravid?
Also, if she is not eating right now and that is out of the norm, then pair her up. Most females go off food when they are in "breeding mode". Try misting them down when in with each other to try and stimulate them. Have you palpated her yet?

I'll try that.

She did end up eating after I left the thawed rat in with her for a while... I may try to pair them up again anyway though and see if they are interested. I did let her run through my hands a few times like I do with corns, I didn't feel any follicles. I have never witnesses "the lump" like people talk about on here.

She last shed on June 17th.

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
if June 17th was her POS she should have laid by now.
if could have been her pre-OS? if that's the case you still have some time....
or.....
it could be just a huge turd lurking to come out? ;)

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
OK, so I am thinking the June shed was her Pre-Ovulation shed. I put them together just now... she is cruising the tank, twitching and raising her tail... HE is oblivious....

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
OK so my boyo pee'd all over the place in her bin, like, a LOT. Does this mean he is maybe interested?
-
Re: Does my girl look gravid?
Would a turd be that big if she hasn't eaten since July 17th?

No, I don't think so.

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
Time to re-read the section on breeding and incubation in Kevin's Bible!
I came home from work and pulled out their bin to check for "evidence" and caught them in the act. This is a first for me. I've actually only caught my corns, who I have been breeding for a few years, once.
Very exciting!

From that last pic it looks like he already got it right. I would seperate them for a few days between locks and keep at it. Maybe offer food during those times.
Also...I wouldn't get too excited about one good lock. Nothing guarantees you're gonna get eggs. I witnessed over a dozen locks with my YB to a spider, lesser and one or two with a pastel. I got nothing from her!
You never know though...good luck! ... and that's a nice pairing. :gj:

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
Thanks! Wow, hard to believe your girl didn't get knocked up after all that!
Sounds like a plan: I'll seperate them, feed them and put them together again in a couple of days.

Aint that the truth, we got tons of lock ups with spider to black pastel and black pastel to black pastel, nothing, bahh, next year! lol

Re: Does my girl look gravid?
D'oh! Black pastel spider... sounds cool!
I'm crossing all my digits! It won't be the end of the world if it doesn't take, but it would sure be nice!! http://www.wax32.com/images/bigrin01.gif
