BPs and other pets?
So far i have not had an issue but along with the bp i also have 2 cats an a dog. anyone ever have issues with other animals and their bp or are the nomally alright? i don't let them interact or anything but they are in the room while shes out.

Re: BPs and other pets?
When my cats are around my bp's become more stressed. And sometimes the cats are a little too interested.
However, as long as you don't put them together I see no problem.

Re: BPs and other pets?
My cats LOVE my brazilian rainbow boa. They don't care much for the others. I'd imagine it's a size thing. BRB is only about 12".
Now if we want to talk about other animals too, one of my leopard geckos has taken a fondness to my ball python. Not quite sure what that's about yet.

Re: BPs and other pets?
hmm thats odd? made the intro to the dog as well. the dog was intrigues the bp was a little skiddish but not too bad

Re: BPs and other pets?
The BPs, parrot, and dog ignore each other. I feel bad for the rats...
-
Re: BPs and other pets?
i don't think bps ignore rats as a basic rule.

Re: BPs and other pets?
My Balls ignore the cats, though my Dumeril gets stressed if they are around. I put my dog in her playpen when the snakes are out, because honestly? My dog is the same basic shape and size of most large rats...Chihuahua + Constrictor = NO FUN FOR ANYBODY, or at least that's my theory. ;)
My Milk Snake just hates every carbon based life form on the planet, me included. ;)
Now, that being said, my cats LOVE my snakes. They like to sneak in and sleep next to their tubs for warmth. I do what I can to keep the snakes from seeing them though, since while most don't seem to care, I don't want 'em to feel stressed.

Re: BPs and other pets?
When I first got my BP (his cage is in my room), I also had one of my leopard geckos in my room as well. There cages were directly across from each other and anytime I would take Stanley (BP) out of his cage, my leopard would stand there looking at us, wagging her tail (like they do when they eat) and her face almost looked a little bit puffy. I had to move her out of the room because I didn't want her to stress out over it. Haha.

Re: BPs and other pets?
My cat and snakes get along and he hates all other animals. I love how they interact, he also loves to sleep by them!!
He even purs if they're around him.

My boyfriends cat on the other hand is out for blood. Can't wait till the red tail is big enough to scare him hehehe

Re: BPs and other pets?
My BP sits on my pit bull's back. The dog looks at him and sniffs him, but after that neither of them care very much.
But I put him on the screen of my rat snake's tank, and the rat did his rattler impression. Python didn't pay him any mind, considering the rat is less than a quarter of his weight XD

Re: BPs and other pets?
My cat watches Monte a little too close for my liking so I have to keep a close eye on her (she weighs about 20lbs) and my dog loves to lick Monte every chance that she gets. With that being said I would never leave any of them alone together unsupervised being as I know the snake would end up losing end of any encounter with either one. I am so bad that I have to check Monte's enclosure before I leave the house if I have had him out or been in his cage at all that day.

Re: BPs and other pets?
Well, I never had a prob, except the one time I kept putting my BP in my hamster's cage so they could play together.....except I kept having to get new hamsters cuz they always seemed to disappear for some reason.....I mean, gosh, Sasha is the absolute most friendly BP in the whole wide world....

Re: BPs and other pets?
Our husky tries to eat both our ball pythons and our bearded dragon. But she also tries to eat the bp's mice [the frozen thawed ones and the live ones]. She also has an extremely overactive hunting instinct and tries to hunt anything moving and smaller than her.
When we take the reptiles out we make sure we block her out of the room.
Edit: just read your post about having a husky [shepard mix?] and unless your husky gets extreme amounts of exercise, they can develop very overactive hunting drives. It's apparently a trait of the breed. I'm not saying your husky will, but just a warning, you may really want to watch him/her and how he/she reacts when you take the snake[s] out.

Re: BPs and other pets?
ya hes a husky shepard mix but he goes on frequent walks and bike rides to keep his energy level down. I'm going to slowly get the bp and dog used to each other but never leave them alone. 1 meeting so far (heavily supervised, i held bp while my wife held the dog). they seemed alright. we will see how it progresses.

Re: BPs and other pets?
One of my dogs always runs over when I have my snake out like "What the hell is that!?!?" but if she ever gets to close she gets a tap on the nose. I won't ever let them interact I don't trust my dog. However my other dog would listen if I said "Be Nice" thats because hes the smart one lol.

Re: BPs and other pets?
Today i had Scarlett out side with me visiting the kids from the apartments I live in. We where hanging out with the neighbors in the backyard and the dog took a dump so i had to go pick it up so i put Scarlett on my wife's shoulders and when i can back Scarlett decided she liked me better and crawled off of my wife onto the patio table and back one my shoulders. I found it interesting that a BP will show favorites as far as there handler goes. I also introduces er to the neighbors dog. My dog seems to like her now. he came up and started licking her. Scarlett could really care less about any other animal that won't fit in her mouth.

Re: BPs and other pets?
Haha, seems you have the cat/dog advice covered. Just thought I'd chime in with the thought of having parrots and reptiles in close proximity for anyone it applies to. BPs are susceptible to respiratory infections (and reptiles in general, if I'm not mistaken) when it comes to dust and hygiene and such. Most parrots give off dust to help with feathers, so if you happen to have them close together it could be a potential problem. I don't really have any experience, but I hope it helps for anyone who might need to know
