I'm sure it will do just fine. I don't even use hides for my snakes once they get that big but I'm sure it couldn't hurt.

If the room is over 80 then yes, but if not, then maybe not. The cool side of the enclosure will stay close to room temp(70) and that's not warm enough. Check the temp on the far side(opposite heat pad) and let us know the temp. Racks hold temps a leeeettle better that's why they work.

unless you live in a very humid area the holes on the top of the lid are not needed. Your heat and humidity will escape from there.

ive heard that those anolog temp humidity gauges are notorious for being completely inaccurate. your better off with the much recommended accurite digital thermometer/hygrometer(weather station) from walmart/homedepot/lowes. it cost between $10-$15

i keep a towel over top of the warm side to hold in heat and help with humidity. stays at 70% consistantly and the temp is usualy around 75-80 on the cool side and around 90 on the warm end. i bought the dial gauges cause i was short on money and me taking the snake was a rescue it now or were letting it go kind of deal. i am already going to purchase a helix thermostat with i think 4 sensors so i can monitor the temp in several different areas of the enclosure and my local petco doesnt have a digital hygrometer but its been a priority to get one. any other suggestions? i want my snake to be as happy as possible.

p.s. the holes on top were put there by my brother when he used it for his bp's since they were stacked, helped him maintain the right temps with them being stacked.

You can get a thermometer with a build in hygrometer at any hardware or department stores. You don't know the temps at all until you get a digital thermometer. Those other thermometers can be off as much as 10 degrees and they don't measure the ground temp as that is the most important measurement!

A tip on the Accurite. Its not very accurate. I have a thread above that shows 3 different thermometers, 2 of which are Accurite. The indoor/outdoor wired one is accurate with temps but between 8-10% low in humidity. Not a huge deal to maybe the average pet owner but a big deal to a breeder or big collector.

I recoomend a Flukers Thermo-Hygrometer for ambient temp and humidity reads. I also use a UTH and thermostat for the warm side. Grabs those and youll be fine. Other than that looks good to me. Good luck

He won't need the stick on Fluker's Thermo-Hygrometer since he has the Accurite Thermo-Hygrometer. Plus, those stick on Fluker's dial thermometers and hygrometers aren't worth a crap.

    Edit:
Deadsmiley, is that the only thermometer you have? If so, you should pick up another digital one with a probe to measure the cool side. It'd be easier for us to tell you if your set up is okay if you tell us what else you use/have and maybe post some pics. :)

I just realized I posted on the second page and there are pictures on the first, haha! :P

It looks good to me. It's good that you've got a Rheostat for now, but once you get a T-Stat, it'll be even better. :) Do you have a thermometer for both sides?

You recommended a Fluker's Thermometer/Hygrometer, and didn't mention that it was digital, which is why I typed "dial" in my previous post. The digital ones are fine, the dial/strip ones are not. :)
