head fade is a pastel trait?
ok so if this is true, then my what i think is a odd ball, not normal, normal female is a pastel.

her head is VERY faded. for a couple inchs past her skull its very yellow.

and her sides are high white/yellows and a few weird blotches of yellow spots in her dark brown ghosts.

so many swear she is just a dinker norm.
    i beg to differ.

Eh, I dont think it's pastel only, pastels do show it in every individual I have seen, but I've seen normals that were no doubt normals with head fade. And look at fires, they have fading too, but they arent pastels.

true, im just sure there is somthing hidden in her. i have never seen(and trust me i have SERACHED OUT THE UNICORN) another normal with such an odd occurance in the color.

Head blushing alone does not a pastel make.

There are many reasons for paradox markings, and so far I don't think any of them have proven genetic. Good luck with the project though. There's always a first time for everything.

Not a pastel. I've got many normals with blushed heads. Pastel's faded heads are generally gray in color.

by chance can you take a picture against a solid color background? i mean the first picture pretty blurry and the 2nd one seems yellowed out.

yea and check out the eye color like he said

She is not a pastel! You would know if she was because she would be yellow all the way down her body! She is an odd normal though! There may be something else there! Good luck!

Completely normal, nothing special at all from what I see.
Sorry to say, but a lot of normals look neat, and discoloration of patches of scales is often not genetic.

    Yeah hes right unfortunately...

Some do, some don't. Its usually a pretty drastic thing, but even then it doesn't mean anything. Almost has some calico action going up the sides lol

    NOT a pastel for sure.
I wonder why a lot of 'normal' owners aren't ever happy with just owning a normal and need to 'upgrade' it?
What makes normals so neat is the HUGE amount of variation in colour and pattern.

I agree - Normals rock! I've seen coloration like that happen through sheds - some maintain that it may be a nutritional deficit of some sort.

Have you had this animal its entire life?

The only way to "prove" that it's more than a normal is to breed it and see if you can reproduce the look. But it's not a pastel by any stretch of the imagination.

When in doubt, eye colour. Yours looks like a very cool normal.

I hear you. I adore my little normal gal, she's LOVELY, super great awesome markings. :) She looks at once like the most common of normals yet she's different from them all...unique and the same the way snowflakes are. If that makes sense? ;)

What does eye color prove? I've got normals that have green eyes. There's more than just head fade or eye color that makes a pastel a pastel.

AMEN people need to stop looking for stuff that isnt there just so they can say they have something other than a normal. (not particularly directed at the op, just in general. theres waaaaay too many threads like that)

but if it doesn't have green eyes then its not a pastel and debate ends there.

to everyone who's posted on my thread.

    thank you for your opinoins!!!

i dont think is a pastel, i dont care to upgrade her.

i want someone to prove to me that there are more like her and
what, if any, is going on.

i love my girl no matter what and am not out to prove some kind of hidden gene.

hell if she passes down a color change thing through life thats awesome.

either way i dont care. but i honestly have not seen another normal with such an odd look to em.

if you have show me!!! i want to see because i want to know that its not just big brother telling me im wrong for the sake of feeling bigger.

by the way her eyes are light gray and no i took her in at about 1yr 3 mnths.

I would still like to see a desent picture of her, most people shoot for a solid white or black background in "natural light", basically something that won't yellow out the picture. fluorescent lighting does a desent job.

it makes it easier for us over the web to see what she really looks like

ive seen several with that type of "pattern/coloring". however, i dont make it a habit to save pics of them.
