    Help please!!!
Someone please help me!!! My dragon is refusing to eat! :tears: I don't know what to do any more!! It is starting to scare me...he just went through a nice shed, so it's not that... he's not impacted...he poops...a lot... I have tried superworms (his fav) crickets, lettuce, squash, sweet potatoes, watermelon.. I took him out of his enclosure yesterday for a bit gave him a little bath(he sure wasn't happy about that either) and we just hung out...Please anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks!

He's probably fine. It is odd for them to refuse food, but a couple days won't kill him.

I'm assuming that all the husbandry is in order. Any discharge around the mouth? How old is he?

i'm no expert, but i'd say that if he's still eating (even if it's not as much as usual) and isn't showing signs of being impacted, maybe just wait it out...he may just not be hungry at the moment. i'm sure when he is, he'll start eating for you again, esp. if you keep offering his favorite foods.

My girl usually eats over a 3 hour period (offer food a few times before she'll eat)...she's kinda picky i guess. My boy, he'll eat EVERYTHING if you let him, but sometimes slows down a bit (and will only eat like 5 crickets for the day)

    Good luck!!!

    My first questions woulb be,
    Is he an adult?
Does he have a good UV bulb?
    Hot spot and cool spot?
    What is his setup?

Adult beardies go through brumation periods. I have seen it last several weeks to several months. During this period they become very inactive, dont eat and will sleep in their hides(or buried) for long periods. This usually happens in the winter but I have seen it happen year round.

If the dragon has been healthy and is not loosing weight that could very well be what it is. I have had breeder females sleep for up to 3 months before breeding season.

I would keep an eye on here and see if its brumation or a lighting or heating issue.

he's about a year and a half, he is in a 55gal, hot and cold spots he hides in his cold spot a lot lately. No he has not lost weight. He did something similar over the winter...I have a mvb bulb, how long should they last? Maybe could it be that? I sat outside with him yesterday and he was soooo loving it! he turned REAL dark...

Sometimes mine will pork out for a day...then take a day off...!! Usually porks out more than not....lol.

As far as the mealworms....I wouldn't feed him those. They have way too much chitlin. You can feed Phx worms...those are a great choice! I do give wax worms occasionally....(kind of like dessert...its there ice cream cone)...lol.

What temps are your hot and cool spots at? hot spots should be around 95-100 degrees and the cool spots can get around 75-80.

Also, what KIND of UVB light are you using? I recommend the Repti-Sun 10.0 bulb...they last longer and have the strogest amount of UVB output. They are expensive, about $30-$50 depending on where you get it, but more than well worth it.

Also, how high is his basking spot? Another great forum to check out for bearded dragons is this:

    http://www.beardeddragon.org/

There are a lot of great people here willing to help.

I hope all goes well. I have two baby beardies and sheesh, they are PIGS...I wish they would take a day's break, haha.

Have you been monitoring his weight? Phoenix worms can be ordered online, just google for them and find the cheapest supplier.
