Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Hi guys,
I would like to buy some ranched balls, just to see if I can get anything nice out of the clutch :)
My question:
What should I look for in a ranched ball python, I am looking at a few unusual ones-should the belly be clean etc....
Thanks allot,
DmD

what i like to look for in "ranched" bps is a very buisy pattern and clean bellys..... i think there the coolest and the most interesting.
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Clean Bellies, different eye color than normal, head spots, faded heads..ect
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Ranched ball pythons can be identified by they're wearing of little cowboy hats and boots. This is different then the farm raised ball pythons which are usually wearing little overalls and flannel shirts.
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
What exactly is a "ranched" BP????

Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Ranched meaning: Imported from Ghana, the eggs were LEGALLY taken out the wild and incubated
So I went to the person and took some photo's of the babies:
What do you think?
My favorite:

Second Favorite:

So which one would you take? I have a lemon pastel male which I am going to breed with the chosen one at a later stage :)
Any comments welcome!
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
That's a tough choice. Wish the second one was being so shy. Get both :)
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
That first one has a pretty awesome pattern :P
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
You will know....when you look in the pile of baby balls and one jumps up and slaps you in the face :rolleye2: you'll say "I'll take that one." You will be amaized at how some will really stand apart from the others.
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
What color is your second favorite? I don't know if it's the lighting or just the color, but she doesn't look normal to me.
I agree with the person that said get both. I like the dark almost orangey tones on the first one, and that creamy color on the second. =)
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Which one doesn't look normal the lighter one? and which one would any of you choose, I am looking to cover them with a male lemon pastel.
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Unless you're in Africa when those little heads poke out of the egg and you pick who you want then, those animals have been picked over by so many hands before they get to you; all that's left are normals.
If it were I looking for something in an Africa-ranched animal being sent over in a oil drum;
1. Alive
2. Eating
3. Externally parasite-free.
4. Internally parasite-free.
Re: Ranched Ball pythons=What to look for
Hi Mykee,
Firstly the ranched ball pythons where hand selected by a mate of mine, so he did get first choice. And the people who he bought from are actually doing it legally.
Lastly how else do you think all the breeders around the world, got these incredible morphs? Sorry for being so rude, but I have had it well known breeders around the world import from Africa so why shouldn't I and I live in Africa? And btw the ball pythons are shipped in a humane way and not in an oil drum? :taz:

Sorry for being rude but, know your facts before you make a statement like that:D
