Like most night time critters, things like light, movement, noise tend to spook frogs.. so I'd suggest move slow, use indirect light and be vewry vewry kuite..

yea ive actually only tryed at night once.. over by my house they seem alot more active at dusk-ish time(you know what i mean?).. so i havent really needed a flashlight or anything of the sort.

Did you try a nice minnow net yet? If you skim with one of those, you will catch all kinds of cool stuff.

Go out at night with a red spectrum flashlight... they don't seem to be able to see the red light (compared to the regular flashlight)

sneak up slowly and grab quickly.... ;)

I always just use my hand when catching frogs nifitier than a net, unless they are out of reach. Sneak up quietly and then snatch fast.

It's all about the field of vision. If your quiet, and out of range (right behind them) then even using your hands is easy. Using a net is alot easier though. Just go right above them real slow until your pretty close, then BAM, a fast snatch up with the net should do the trick.

    Goodluck!

Here is how I catch them: Walk home from work on the street. Walk up to it, grab it. I catch it.

I have a hognose that we feed frogs to (won't eat anything else). My 2 kids ages 6 and 8 are frog-catching experts. They just walk the yard with their LED flashlights (my yard backs up to a pond), and when they see one, they run to it, step on it lightly with their shoe, then pick it up. The frogs are not the fastest guys on the planet. They don't normally catch the leapers though - those that go on trees and can leap very far - although they have caught a few of them before just to take a closer look at their toes when the frogs stick to the window. Those they just quickly put their entire hand on it to prevent it from leaping off.
