Spider Clown - Has it been made?
Has anyone made the spider clown yet? I think it'd be an interesting pairing.

Anyone else shooting for this project?

Several have produced Spider het clowns and bee het clowns. I haven't seen the spider clown yet, but it should be soon. There are even some spider het clowns for sale right now. I hope it gets named the funnybee.

    Funnybee... That's not bad!

As of right now I have 11 eggs from a very cool looking Spider 100% Het Clown male bred to 100% Het Clown females all from the group of reduced pattern clowns I'm working with.

I also have an extremely reduced pattern female Clown that is ovulating now from the same Spider Het. male.

So... with any luck I might take up that "Funnybee" name within the next 3 weeks or so.

    Fingers crossed...

I was lucky enough to produce 2.2 spider het clowns this year! The spider clown should be amazing as well as the crosses from there... Bumblebee clowns, orange dream spider clowns, desert spider clowns!!!

Some pics of the spider hets are in this thread...

Good luck with those clutches. I'm still just trying to produce a clown(5 eggs from het to het due in mid August). I thought up the name funnybee for a clown spider while brainstorming new clown combos, but I soon realized several people had already produced spider het clown males and I was years behind. So I'm pulling for you to be first and name it a funnybee!

Funny, I just purchased a male Het clown that I'm going to use for my very first ever project to produce Spider Clowns. I have a spider male, and 2 females I will rotate breeding with. Should be good :)

I wonder why the spider clown is takin so long to come about. I mean theres already been a banana clown you would think the spider clown would have been accomplished a while ago

really- thats an interesting point right there. we got the spider for 11 years now- the clown even longer. dont know when the banana showd up, but i would bet it was after the spider.

does someone know if there were affords to make em before this season and what eventually happend with the eggs. i mean maybe all babies died or so.

its really weird that some of the oldest morphs didnt been bread succesfully together and produced the combo.

the same i asked myself about the caramel pied. both morphs that are available for a long time but to my knowledge they havent been produced yet. i know that its a bit harder cause the 1 in 16 odds, but dreamsicles have been made too- and the lavender albino showed up later than the caramel

The banana clown came out so fast because the first time a banana was ever bred it was paired with a clown if I am remembering the story right.

I don't think I would choose to breed a clown with a spider becouse they both have an amazing pattern and I dont think that if you put it together it would be an improvement.

But everybody has there own taste ofcourse;)

Pattern morphs are a special thing, and there definitely arent enough of them. But people do like to breed the pattern morphs together and produce some cool things, like the Spinner. Personally I like seeing all the designer morphs, they're all cool, some are better than others but if things arent made you have no idea what you're missing out on.

Only way to find out is to do it. One thing with ball python morphs is that sometimes the picture you get in your head of what you think the combo will look like ends up being way off. I really think they will be amazing.

Re: Spider Clown - Has it been made?
I know this is an old post but is it just as simple as pairing a clown and a spider?? :o
  • 05-22-2014, 09:25 AM
    MrLang
Clown is a recessive gene - so the snake with Spider needs to also be at least carrying Clown. "Het" is short for "heterozygous" which means it is carrying only one copy of the gene. In the case of Clown, it requires 2 copies of the gene to be visually showing the trait, so the other parent must at least be carrying 1 copy as well.

Re: Spider Clown - Has it been made?
Oh yes.. your right lol i have a het clown. And looking for another het to produce a clown.. but for some reason i automattically assumed when you had a visual clown it wasnt het anymore.. does that make sense? Lol...

    Pythonfriend
to get a visual clown, both parents need to contribute one copy of the clown gene.

so you breed clown to spider, and you get het clowns and spider het clowns.

now you can breed clown to spider het clown, or het clown to spider het clown, and now you have a chance to get a spider clown.
