Re: "Dimpled" eggs question
They can be almost smooth with a few pockmarks to giant craters to totally deflated. At least from what I've seen around here.

I think mine would be along the crater line. Those eggs (or even the deflated ones) come out OK?
Thanks!
Re: "Dimpled" eggs question
If you are at day 43, dimpling is fine. As long as it isn't deflated by more than half of the size of the egg, you are fine and its no big deal.
IF the egg is hard to the touch, does not give, and doesn't bend, you are in trouble...

They started to dimple on day 35 but I still get some
movement on day 43. The shells are soft :)
Re: "Dimpled" eggs question
It seems to be the case that if there are veins, never give up.
I've seen dimpled, deformed, squished, deflated, and mold-covered eggs hatch out perfectly healthy babies. And I've only been here for 3 months!
Movement is a super-awesome sign!
Idk without pics, but I'd guess that the eggs are dimpling because the hatchlings are absorbing so much of the yolk and the shell is losing support.
Re: "Dimpled" eggs question
Here are the pics of my clutch, as you can see some are dimpled and others are fully plump. As of this morning 5 of 7 have pipped. I thought the plump ones might take a few extra days to pip, but I just checked and one of the plump ones pipped overnight. Hope this helps.

How far along are they. Mine are on day 53/54 depending exactly when they were laid. They started dimpling a few weeks ago. The 2 on the bottom left that are attached were taut and they have both pipped today. Just waiting on the egg with the window to pip.

They started to dimple on day 35 and today is day 44.
Re: "Dimpled" eggs question
i would try to cover the eggs with some damp sphagnum moss. i too have the same problem with my eggs. it's very hard to get sphagnum moss around here, so in a pinch, moist paper towel seems to be working. i remoisten it every 3 or so days, and it seems to pop the dimples out a little bit.
my hygrometer says 56%, but i KNOW it's higher than that. it also says my temps are only 76, but i know that is wrong too. i think it's just a $#!7 thermometer. so, don't completely trust your hygrometer, and try to up the humidity a little bit.
