Poop Location
Weird title, right? I just happened to notice tonight while cleaning tubs that all my snakes tend to poop and pee on the same end of the tub every time. Never fail, all of my ball pythons poop and pee on the warm end of their tubs. My corns will poop and pee anywhere, but the ball pythons seem intent on doing their business on the warm side. So where do your's like to go?

Re: Poop Location
Maybe it is because I have naturalistic set ups, but mine never go in the same place. It completely varies every time, one snake to another.

While mine do always poop on the warm side, they are quite the artists. They will draw me pictures sometimes. Hmm...maybe I could sell these works of art like some people do with elephant paintings.....I'd make a fortune! :O......or not. :P

Re: Poop Location
My guys poop behind their water dishes in the corner of the tub on the cool side almost every single time.

Re: Poop Location
Ya know I never really thought about it...but now that you bring it up...warm side!!

Re: Poop Location
Mine have a strong preference for the warm side corners of the tubs. Although, once in a while there is a dropping on the cool side.

Re: Poop Location
mines do the same, behind the water dish and some on the corners and of course i have my female pastel that loves to paint...LOL

Re: Poop Location
All 3 snakes...always on the warm side...always in their hides...always smeared around the sides. The boys don't seem to mind sharing their space with a steaming pile of crap for an evening, but I always know when my girl poos in her hide when I find her curled up outside of her hide the next morning with a look on her face like, "There's something really gross in there..." I keep telling her that if she pooped outside of her hide, she wouldn't have to abandon ship...she's yet to learn that lesson... :)

Re: Poop Location
One of mine always used his humid hide to poo in pee too. I am not sure he has ever been in there for anything else. The funny part is when he leaves it he pulls the cover off. Like he is saying ok clean up needed. The other guy always in the back left corner behind everything the singular most inconvenient spot possible!

Re: Poop Location
As long as they don't poop in the water bowl, it's okay. But pooping in the water bowl, that's just beyond the pale.

Of course. How do you even clean that off?
Mine have been all over the place so far. Well, the one that's gone...

Re: Poop Location
They poop on the warm side; but why? Well there are numerous possible reasons:
1. Because it's warm and tickles their colons in that special way that makes them just lose control.
2. They spend more time there.
3. It's where their hide is.
4. It's dark back there in a deep rack.
5. They just like to poop there.
6. They like to keep it warm so it is better for painting.
7. A combination of these.
Personally, I think they poop there because it's warm, dark, and it is where they spend most of their time.

Re: Poop Location
Funny poll.
My ball pythons usually poop on the warm side. I have noticed that the corns will poop anywhere BUT the majority of my corns have a particular area that they will poop in, like they've potty trained themselves! Warm or cool side, but the same area per individual snake. Almost as if they keep it in one place as to not slither through it. In fact, some of my ball pythons think they are Picasso and treat their poop like it is paint. I hate it when they do that :rolleye2:
OK, that's the most I've ever written about poop. :rolleye2:

Re: Poop Location
Varies with my boy, wherever he feels like letting it go, I guess he's not picky haha.

Re: Poop Location
I don't think I have ever noticed a pattern, I will have to pay closer attention :)
-
Re: Poop Location
Not that relevant that I am paying attention to it, all I know is that no matter where it is I have to clean it

Re: Poop Location
My corns will poop anywhere. Corners, in the middle, in the water dish, etc. But the balls always poop on the same side. Sorry I notice weird things like this. :snake:

Re: Poop Location
Chumley almost always poops on the warm side in the front corner and immediately goes to his cool side hide to hang out. I guess the smell bothers him too!!

Re: Poop Location
My spider likes to make me poop soup as often as he can. :irkd: It's always in the water bowl. :P

Re: Poop Location
Mine poops wherever he wants. Must be nice. :P

Re: Poop Location
Our male sheds and poops under his hide. And when I say sheds under his hide, I mean he'll shed and then drag his shed under his hide. And this is under the hide on the cool side.
Our female just poops where ever she pleases. I think it's just random.

Re: Poop Location
My male spider doesn't care because it ends up all over the tub, my bee and fire, I'm not sure, I just got them, but the rest seem to move the paper towel over and then go right on the plastic of the tub.. So fun to clean. And yes, it's always on the warm side so it gets nice and humid as well.
