Show me why your bp is a dinker !?

i have always seen post about dinkers and what some ppl think they have that might be one... i'm very interested in seeing some of the dinkers on this forum and Y they are a dinker to u... pls share, love the knowledge...


i have a normal girl that i think is special to fall in the dinker category, i will breed her next yr. She has some what of a granite pattern or not, a lite head pattern,blush or not but her eyes are not like a regular bp... Enjoy !

I kid you not, I have a female that looks exactly like that!
I bred my girl to a YB last year and she threw some really nice YB's. Different enough that they will stand out in a crowd!
My next breeding with her will be my pastel mojave.

Thanks Pat, Believe it or not I was given that female as compensation when she first arrived she was in shed and I didn't notice how she looked, There is something about her but what that is the question lol :) I have been told she looks like a Browned out axanthic but without any proof the possibilitys could be endless.

To the best of my understanding, a "dinker" is pretty much any wild type ball python that looks different than most.

Some have lighter or darker coloration, some have unusual patterns or lack of patterns, some have back stripes, or completely dark backs, etc.

The term "dinker" means it is an odd looking snake that has not yet been proven out by breeding. Most never prove out, but some do. Lots of breeders enjoy toying around with their unusual snakes just to see what happens.

I myself have a lovely "dinker" male, whose back pattern is vaguely clownish and whom I hope may produce some nicely reduced pattern babies.

Would it not be any type of snake that you don't know the genetics and have to breed it out to figure it out, not necessarily just a wild type?

It is technically any snake that has something you find to be "special" and you want to find if it is genetic.

I do not have any dinkers, but I am always on the lookout.

Ok, let me correct myself.

MOST of the dinkers I've heard of are all wild types. There are probably morph dinkers out there, you just don't hear about them as often.

Example my yellow belly's.
The breeder paired a black pastel with a female yb and got a normal, a yb female and 2.2 like the pair I have.
He checked and was told by others that they were indeed black pastel yb's.
I've been told by numerous people that they aren't, I've been told by numerous people they look like they are.
Until I breed them and figure it out I call them "dinkers" :)

I wasn't trying to say anyone was wrong, your correct in that typically most dinkers are normals.

After investing all this time in them I may now have to abandon the project which bites the big one. :(

Dinking for Het. Piebald?

I actually have a similar project with my Black Pastel, he has a ringer and a couple of Het. Piebald markers:

You can see the ringer in this picture. I actually didn't notice it until he was about 3-4 months old. He is about a 2 weeks old in this picture.

Here's my girl that was sold to me as a dinker, and I'm still working with her to figure out whether she has that interesting little something extra. So far, I have determined that she makes really gorgeous womas. lol

Hi,

My booze addled, lying, pathetic excuse for a landlord didn't pay his mortgage and got the flat I am renting from him reposessed as a result. This also means I don't get the months rent in advance or the months rent deposit back. :taz:

I do have to keep paying the rent obviously but now it is to a mortgage company who want to sell the house as soon as possible. He hadn't even told them he was renting the place out.

So I now have to try and find somewhere else to live as soon as I can. :rolleyes:

End result I might have to sell more of my snakes than I'd really prefer to cover the costs involved. :(

Ahh no way mate, I had that happen the landlord was a two bit moron house got reposessed and I didn't even know until the letting agent informed me so I told them I would continue to pay the rent ( Which I didn't that paid for a deposit ) In the end it was two months rent which paid for the next place.

her traits are tons of blushing, very dark animal, her eyes are light, I would go as far to say green. Unique belly. She has a co-dominant look to me. She will probably be paired with a Mojave once she is big enough but that could change :P

This guy has a very wacky stripe, floating side pattern, and his contrast is amazing. Very black background with a sheen like a rainbow boa. His dorsal pattern is very bright. His eyes are light. He seems to have the typical belly pattern of striped "harlequin" ball pythons as well. Not sure what I will end up breeding him to...

Here's my "dinker" male....was told he's a "normal" from Ghana...He's my buddys now, but still around, and 3-4 times the size then in the pics..Just got him a nice "dinker" female, same patterns/markings with ALOT of blushings and light head....We'll see what they produce in about a year or sooner...
