    And yet if you search for "pied" on ks, you'll get two or three times as many hits!

    So I'm thinking "pied" must have at least some grass-roots support.

    It's Piebald. We all know it. We call them pied because it's easier, sounds better, and works. Like calling an animal "Het" instead of Heterozygous.

    Piebald is correct, but we call it Pied, and there is nothing wrong with that.

    Actually, according to Merriam-Webster, "pied" is perfectly legit as well:

    If you want to get downright picky about it, piebald is actually a black and white animal. SKEWBALD is the term for any other color and white. We've been calling them the wrong thing the whole time... LOL :D:D:D
