Re: Goliath
Wow, that's impressive. I love their patterns and overall look. How has the ownership experience been thus far? How is its attitude? Is it a fast mover or slow mover?

Re: Goliath
Nice-looking snake! Congratulations! :)

Re: Goliath
Congrats on the addition. I would love a yellow annie but I have heard that can have a real attitude, and usually musk alot. I've heard they dont make great "pets" but are mainly for show.

So far ownership and his attitude are great. As of now he sits just fine in one hand. He'll look around a bit but doesn't try to go all over. He struck once taking em out the box he came in but that was expected. Two more times when trying to wipe down with a wash cloth. He didn't like the towles very much but he's fine with em now. We also have a Burmese the same size as him and they get along great.

Yeah I've heard/read mixed things about them but the only way to find out for yourself is to get one ya know? Right now I'm glad we got one and hope he stays calm and gental.

Re: Goliath
I acquired my female 4 years ago and she bit me the first time I held her, but never since.
She's around ten foot and really gentle; although she does like to move around when you hold her.
Chris
ps - congrats on the addition!

People that say this are usually a bit ignorant or have never owned one.
Some can have tempers yes, but like any snake, they calm down with handling, and captives are a lot better then wild caughts.

you have heard wrong on a few things...
They do NOT make good pets, unless your willing to work with them, take time, and have the experience and knowledge to do so.
Aggression varies from snake to snake, its all about how much they trust you, and how you handle and maintain that trust.
for show? Who has one for show? i have one because its one of my favorite species to work with, and they are just beautiful animals.

Re: Goliath
from that first pix of her coiled up looks like it tries to lure prey by wiggling it's tail. does it do that? only reason ask is my green tree python will lay on the ground coiled the same way and wiggle it's tail to lure prey close to it's head and it's tail is positioned the same way right in front of it's mouth.

No he doesnt do that with his tail. I dont feed em in his tank but when hes in the kill box soon as he sees the mouse he wastes no time striking.
