Video proof that Caramel Females ARE FERTILE!
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to post this thread here for those in doubt. Caramel females CAN lay good eggs! This female laid eggs last year from my African CH "Lesser Platinum" male. This clutch is from a Hypo Mojave.
Please let me know if there are any questions...

Thanks Sean, hope you get a couple mojo double hets.
I can imagine a mojave caramel glow would be smokin :)
Re: Video proof that Caramel Females ARE FERTILE!
Now we can lay that to rest! Thanks Sean!
Re: Video proof that Caramel Females ARE FERTILE!
But will they hatch :O
JK, I honestly never believed that Caramel Females were unfertile as it is.
Re: Video proof that Caramel Females ARE FERTILE!
Thank you Sean for filming that. Can I ask a question? Does she have any kinking at all? The reason I ask, is because I know that a lot of caramels have a problem with kinking, the ones with severe kinking you can see right away but those with minor kinks can't be readily identified once they get some weight on them and I've always wondered if the kinking issues could be linked to the claimed fertility issues? Also, whose line of caramel is that?
Thanks

Glad to see this!! I have a Caramel Poss Het Ghost, she is an eating machine and tipping in now around 1200grams. I want to get her over 2000 and to a Ghost something..
My concern on this video is not if the eggs are fertile but will they still hatch the way you were playing dice with them.? I always heard that you have to be careful with them and keep them the way they were hatched.. You were moving them around so freely.. LOL
are the python eggs as delicate as everyone makes them out to be??
Re: Video proof that Caramel Females ARE FERTILE!
Congrats on the eggs Sean!!! I am working on the same combo. :) I am also pairing a Caramel girl with a Pastel Ivory -- no ovulation yet.
For those concerned about eggs hatching -- if they candled good then they should. Good luck on the odds. :gj:

I still don't believe it Sean! j/k. :)

LOL... Someone left a comment similar to your question on the actual YouTube page. You can do anything you want to eggs if you put them back in the same orientation. I believe Tim Bailey experimented with this several years ago by incubating and eggs for a while and deliberately turning it out of position. I believe the egg hatched fine. I've been hatching BP eggs for about 12 years now and I've never handled them with SUPER care.
This female produced 3 eggs last year and all of them went full term and hatched into healthy animals (but they were ALL male Het Caramels)

Mark,
She wasn't kinked at ALL as a neonate. You have an interesting hunch though. Perhaps you are on to something.
This particular animal was produced by Ian G. about 5 years ago.
Take care :)
