Perfectly normal. They can go several weeks between poos sometimes...and many days without peeing or passing urates.

6 days is nothing, like was already said they can go very long without defecating or urinating.

If it makes you feel any better my blood python hasnt crapped in 5 months, lol...

She feels like a tube sock packed with rocks!
( I think the hard spots are urates, lol )

Oh I will get a picture! I may even cast the poo into a solid block of clear resin so I can save it for posterity...

Even more shocking than my blood pythons yet to be born 5 month old super turd is the puff adder we have at the reptile shelter where I volunteer, this thing hasnt pooped in like 8 or 9 months, it is so bloated! The poor guy is a massively swollen lump at the best of times and now with his ultra dump blocking him up he is huge! His butthole is actually popping about a half inch out of his vent, it is terrible looking! We are putting him on a warm soaking regimen to try to help him out, but readily handling puff adders is not the safest thing to do, lol. I will keep you guys posted on the mega poop status!

Sounds like the puff adder is on its way out :( prolapses of any kind are never a good sign. Neither is not pooping for 8 months....

Re: Neither poop nor pee for the last 6 days now...
He definitely has a problem, but its not a full prolapse, its just like he is constantly starting to poop, the rectum is just starting to open, but he cant seem to finish the process, the tissue is not red or irritated at all, and you can just see the turd starting to peek out. It sounds terrible I know but he has done this once before and recovered with no problems. Our vet has us doing the warm soaks and hopefully it will help him out, puff adders as well as gaboons have a tendency to be constipated for long periods of time, it may have something to do with their extremely sedentary lifestyles, you almost never see them move unless you are putting them on the snake hooks.

I will let you know what happens with him, but I think he will be ok as long as he can poop soon, like I said the tissue looks healthy there is no red irritation or swelling, besides the actual swollen turd.

I just got a new sub year ball python. I have had her two weeks this coming Sat.

I am not seeing any urates, urine, or poop in her tub. How long before you should start worrying.

Ya dont sweat the pooping, the snake will be fine, they can go a long time without defecating. If your really worried after a long period of time, a nice warm soak for the snake will encourage a bowel movement. Just make sure the water isnt too deep, they can drown, make the water come up about half the height of the snakes body when its lying down, so just a half inch or so of water, make sure that the water is just luke warm not hot! If your hand is in the water and it feels hot than that is way to warm, just like a baby bottle you dont want to burn them. I use plastic sweaterboxes to soak my snakes so they cant get out, just cut them a few airholes and throw the lid on and let them soak for 20 minutes.

2 weeks is not too long for a poop, sometimes they will just poop once a month, dangerous constipation is not a common problem unless they somehow ate a ton of substrate and blocked up their guts, which i doubt is your problem.

Definitely normal, and it depends on how much they are eating and growing as well.

I adopted an underfed BP a month ago, and it gained 150g in the last month, and it was just a little over a month before it took its first poop -- and it was the biggest poop I had ever seen (and I have been keeping snakes for quite a while).

My male 1.5 year old hasn't eaten for two months, and hasn't pooped for over a month now...

Out of curiosity I averaged the time between poos for my two guys over the last year and it is about 27 days. The longest was 43 days and the shortest was 18 days not to worry. they go when they go, what is normal for you is not the norm for a snake.

This just goes to show what great pets snakes make, they only eat every week or so when full grown, and they only poop once a month on average!

I wish my dog was like that!

lol, seems like the snake is the worst pooper on the whole animal kingdom (since i pretty much owned every kind of legal pets). :D the worst pooper is my hamster which poops like every 5 minutes (exaggerated, but you get the drift) but its k since is so small anyways. i guess next would be my dog where its big and such and can be smelly and wet. lol.

hmmm... the godzilla poop you're talking about, how big is 'big'?? (in inches if possible, also the width lol)

Re: Neither poop nor pee for the last 6 days now...
The poop in my blood python must be about 10 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide, atleast... You can actually feel the poop in his body, you can even see it, he looks all full and stuffed, this measurement is admittedly a guess cuz this is all from me palpating his bowels but thats what it looks like to me...

The funny thing is, he is getting less packed with poo cuz he is growing faster than his poop is building up, so recently he looks slightly less stuffed, lol... So bizarre, but I have heard of bloods doing this before...
